Default Enkei RPF1 Black .... is it worth it 6 lbs lighter than stoc

Im thinking about getting 17*7.5 lightweight rim for performance reasons, these rims are 6 lbs lighter than stock but ...

how much of a real difference does it make in wheel weight is there some kinda equation like every 1 lb added to rim is like really adding 5 lbs to the car, 10 lbs to the car?

6 lbs less * 4 = 24lbs less in wheel weight total

24 * 5 = 120lbs ... which is like .1 off 1/4 mile .... not really worth it if every lb is like adding 5 hmmmm anyone know the real scoop

If I remember right...1 lb of rotating mass is equivalent in speed reduction to 6 lbs of stationary mass. I could be wrong, but I think I remember reading a post from Otocan about it a long time ago. Take it for what it's worth. I could be completely wrong...I might be right...who know's...lol

IMO they're worth it. I also got a slightly better gas mileage when I had that setup.

I have the 16 inch Spec steelies which are lighter than the 17 inch stockies and you can definitely tell the difference. Even on the street where you're just accelerating into traffic on the freeway.

The car is "peppier" in the get-up-and-go department. I didn't care for the way they look, but there is a noticeable difference.

if you like the wheels then buy them because they will give your car a different look as well.

I think these would look pretty nuts on my car because its SuperWhite with carbon fiber hood, and tinted tailights, and black sidemirrors!!!

Im running 225 45 on the stock 17's because these are 17*7.5 could i run 235's since they are an extra 1/2 inch wider??

Ha just found out my khumo spt's weigh 24 lbs ... Michelin pilot sport ps2's weigh only 22 lbs ....

so my stock rim 21lbs + 24lb khumo tire = 45 lbs total
motegi rim = 14lbs + 22lb michelin tire = 36 lbs total

wow i could reduce each rim + tire by 9 lbs ... 36 lbs off 4 rims
if each 1 lb rotational mass = 6 lbs stationary mass 36 * 6 = 216 lbs

not bad not bad!!!!!!!!!

the konig feathers are definitely nice for the price 527 shipped.

i found the motegi traklites for 1052 shipped so double the price ... but about 3 lbs lighter per rim 17 vs 14lbs

The Falken 512 weighs in pretty light at 20.8lbs in the 215/45-17 but they are an all season tire so even though they are lighter they won't give you the traction you are looking for at the track.

Here are some High Performance tires with comparable weights. (Weights are according to manufacturers)

Kumho MX 215/45-17 = 20.0 lbs
Goodyear F1 GS D3 215/45-17 = 22.36lbs
Falken 452 215/45-17 = 23.2lbs

*The Kumho MX is a tire built for the Track, they have a soft sticky compound, out of the three above they are the most dry performance oriented. The F1 GS D3 is an amazing everyday performance tire. A lot of the big bodied muscle car drivers swear by this tire for its everyday performance and wet traction. The Falken 452 is an affordable everyday performance tire. This tire offers a lot of performance for the price.

The Nitto NeoGen also appears to be light as well. It should fall in the 21-23lbs range. Let me know if you are interested in it and I will get a specific weight for you. The NeoGen competes very close to the 452.
