Default need new tires soon!!!!!!

i need to get new tires soon. my rear tires are practically bald and my fronts ones are about a 1k miles away. i'm going to be getting 225/45zr17 for my car instead of 215/45zr17. which brand gives the best treadlife with the best performance. i'm thinking about toyo tires or even pirelli's. anyone got some info on these, or other that are really good in this area. thanks in advance for the info guys.

Hard to say. You've got to factor in some things. (ex. road conditions, how you drive, blah blah.)
A lot of people are going to say Toyos. I have the Pirelli PZero Neros and they are good. Either way,
you can't go wrong. BTW- the wider tire will give the tC an aggressive look from the rear.
No more skinny tires for you.

^^ I have a set of those also. Good all-season tires as well. Usually the Kumhos are cheaper than the Toyos and Pirellis.

hey dont take my word for it but when i got my tires changed they told me that i cant squeeze 225s on 17" (stockies)

plus i dont think you really want to spend that much money on a tire and stick with the stocks

either way good luck and wait to see what the tire wiz people say on here...

ps any low profile tire that you get is going to have ____ty treadlife...just go with an all weather tire and buy some nice 18"s with legit tires

what's your budget? I had a set of PZero Neros on one of my previous cars and they were great as well. I have however, because cheap over the years and will probably not be getting those once the ones on my current car wears out.

You should be asking for model suggestions, not brands.
Tire companies usually make all sorts of tires from ____ty all seasons to drag use only tires.
Typically, the stickier the tires, the lower the thread life...you have to pay to play.
All season tires usually give up some performance but offer longer wear than summer/high performance tires.
But don't worry; that little performance you lose isn't going to really matter when you drive a boat with only 160hp =)

That's a load of crap. I'd tell that shop to f off... 225 may be the widest you can go on stock wheels but they certainly fit OK. I'm running them right now and I know MANY others are.

toyoooooooo ftw!

proxes 4 or proxes fz4

if you want good treadwear though - may i suggest either the Nexen N5000 (crappy performance but great treadwear) or the Hankook Ventus V4 Es H105 (good performance and treadwear)

I have 225/45/17's on my stockies. Infact the guy at DiscountTire.com told me I should upgrade.

I have Nitto NeoGens, you can get all 4 shipped for $400. They are an awesome tire and last a long time. They have really good grip too.

This is the second set I have had, I had a set on my old accord before and they lasted about 40,000 miles.

So thats my 2cents.

I bought these...... http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=AVID+W4S&partnum=145WR7W4SXL&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes&place=45&speed_rating=H&speed_rating=V&speed_rating=Z&speed_rating=W&speed_rating=Y&speed_rating=(Y)&minSpeedRating=H

Based on their ratings and reviews on tire rack. No complaints so far except they are a little noisy in hard turns.

I was thinking of going with them on My TL-S (similar tire size).... but I think I'll go with these instead.... http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....+F1+All+Season

Goodyear F1 allseasons are great tires and good price. Very good value for your dollar.

Can you post a pic of the General tires on your rims, I was considering them but last time I saw them on a car the sidewall looked... well let's just say horrible.

I have 19X8.5 wheels , just for reference.
My first set was the Toyo Proxes 4 which are a great tire until the tread wore down to the "warning tracks" . These tracks crossed over the "V" groove and trapped water while driving in the rain and I was hydroplaning like crazy. I just put on a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 all-season with the carbon fiber sidewall (not sure if it helps with handling) so time will tell how good these are.
Toyo's 225-35-19
Goodyear's 235-35-19

potenza re760 sport or potenza G019. pretty aggressive, but for something a little more relaxed the potenza re960s. all made by bridgestone/firestone.

x2. We had these on my wife's car and they last for a while. They are also decent with performance, but not real performance tires.

The Potenzas that came on the car lasted me over 65k. They were horrible on anything but dry pavement. P Zeros I got now don't look like they'll last anywhere near that, but much better in rain, light snow and dry conditions. Like 07SpecTC said the stickier they are the shorter life of the tire. It all depends on how you want the car to handle and how you drive it.

if i could afford to get new rims i would along with the new tires. but i'm looking to spend no more than $800. i'm just trying to get an idea of what people are running here and what they like. thanks for the info so far guys. but specifically i think i'm gonna go with either the yokohama, toyo, pirelli's, or kuhmo tires. within these brands are their specific models that are better than others? as long as the tires last me at least one year i'm okay with that.
