View Full Version : Shift boot
krazyscion 07-03-2008, 08:16 AM Hey everyone...
just picked up a 5spd RS 1.0 xD last week and the rubber shift boot is not working too well for me... collecting lint and doesn't look too nice...
I was wondering if someone had changed it b4...
nikhi19 07-03-2008, 10:19 PM Oh, how do you look the RS1?! Mine is on order and should arrive in a few days. I'm excited!
I might want to change my shift boot too, so I can't wait to read the answer to your question!
krazyscion 07-04-2008, 07:15 AM its awesome! but having linty shift boot doesn't cut it for me...lol
RS1 is awesome... u will like it
nikhi19 07-04-2008, 05:31 PM Thanks krazyscion! I'm totally stoked! Blah on linty shift boots! ;)
le2anseb 09-21-2008, 06:10 PM Seems like there is a market for leather boots - and no one has found a solution :(
I'm hoping another thread which I bumped will provide more insight on this provider:

Anyone found a solution???
Thanks krazyscion! I'm totally stoked! Blah on linty shift boots! ;)
breadbooze 09-22-2008, 04:16 AM I have a momo shift boot sitting around. Looking at the xD's boot, it doesn't seem very difficult to change, when I have time I will get around to documenting it.
le2anseb 09-22-2008, 08:07 AM Thank you!
coincidence.. I emailed this website:
http://www.everything4scion.com/interior-upgrades-momo-c-297.html
and asked them about the momo boots and if they would fit the xD or not. we'll see what they say - hopefully it's a yes, or a "yes, with a little more work".

A1binoA11igat0r 09-22-2008, 02:21 PM I have boots from www.redlinegoods.com. I recieved them Saturday and installed yesterday morning. I'll be writing a DIY to install them as well.

They don't make it for the xD, but they offer a free shift boot if "If your boot isn't listed in our store, we'll give it to you free!"
They post on here, I bought a boot from them a while back and love it.
krazyscion 09-25-2008, 04:47 PM
GreyFox 10-09-2008, 11:45 PM Super tempting - you have to send them your shift boot and e-brake covers if you want the free ones...
TRDxD 10-24-2008, 06:17 AM i made my own. went to autozone and bought one of the 10 dollars "leather" boots just to mess around with it
heres what you do. first unscrew the shift knob (so you can take off the boot)
second: get your fingers under the little base cover (color coded with the rest of the center panel)
pull it all up. the rubber shift boot has slots cut out where the shifter base clips over it.
if you do what i did, and just buy a generic boot, simply place the bottom of your boot in the same position as it would sit in your car, then poke holes where the extensions are at the bottom of the base. with these holes, make slight cuts so that the boot slips over the extensions,
reverse entire procedure, and enjoy your new shift boot!!

I bought one from Redline as well in the black carbon fiber fabric. I haven't had a chance to put it on just yet, but it looks pretty nice.

I actually took the offer for the free shift boot. I just received it in the mail two days ago but have yet to install it. :nails: hoping it will fit right. it looks a little short. ill post pics
bwhite 02-20-2009, 11:51 PM http://www.redlinegoods.com/Yaris9906shiftboot.shtm
go here and see the Boot. I got one for the e-brake too. The workmanship is good, and it REALLY makes the loosk like a fine motorvehicle should!
The Yaris has the same specs as the XD
I'm really happy with mine. I got black with blue stitching, and got one that's 2 inches longer than the suggested "stock" one that they make. :loser:
TRDxD 02-21-2009, 12:07 AM WOW. that's how mine looks right now. Momo shift knob and everything...hahah pretty cool. but ill be putting on my shift styles boot soon (if i stop feeling like utter crap due to this flu)
oh and my shift styles is black with red stitching :P...looks like were NEMESIS'S'S'S'S'S'S'S''S'S'SS'!!! haha jk jk
robbiej 02-21-2009, 12:10 AM anyone have pics yet???
TRDxD 02-21-2009, 12:33 AM i just tried to fit the shift boot from Shift Styles. and it doesnt fit. at all....its not long enough NOR does it fit the mounting plate. I'll be emailing them today to see whats up? Because I sent them in the OEM shift boot....so the height and mounting pattern shouldn't have been off....especially the height....its probably 1.5" off. Pretty disappointed
mcbrew 02-23-2009, 01:13 AM Here's my Redline shift boot:

TRDxD 02-23-2009, 01:43 AM dude wtf that fits perfectly.....
how much was this? i may just buy one from redline
mcbrew 02-23-2009, 02:20 AM Just go to [url]http://www.redlinegoods.com[url] and find Scion in the dropdown box. The one you see in the xD on their site was ordered 1 or 2" longer than normal according to A1binoA11igat0r (that's who's car it is, and that's who wrote the how-to on installing the boots). Mine is the "stock" length.
It is $49 for the shift boot or $69 for the shift boot and brake boot. Get both, they look great together! Also, you have a million options for color and stitching. They are fast and the products are nice.
Just a note, the boot will sag when it is installed because there is nothing holding it up around the edge. Mine (and the one on their site) had to be modified a bit to help it "puff up" around the edge. To do this, cut and bend a metal coat hanger to closely match the opening in the trim piece where the boot attaches, only very slightly larger. Work the metal loop up into the boot after it is attached to the trip piece and the console. The ring will stay there and hold the boot up for a more finished look.
mcbrew 02-23-2009, 02:23 AM They still have a free shipping discount for orders over $50, so use it if you get both boots or shift boots for two cars.
Discount code: P6C316QL7J5
Only good through Feb 25!
TRDxD 02-23-2009, 04:03 AM NOOO i wont have money by then!!!!
oh well...thanks for the heads up! and im sure that discount code will help others so thanks for notifying us all of this offer :D
yeah all the boots sag....(ive had to ghetto out a couple ones to fit them properly...) but oh well. that coat hanger idea is a good one, so ill utilize that when i can finally purchase my own. thanks :D btw, can you take a pic of the ebrake boot? i've always wanted to see one on the xD but theres no one who has installed one and posted pics. thnx in advance if you can!
mcbrew 02-23-2009, 03:33 PM Sorry for the cell-phone quality...

TRDxD 02-23-2009, 06:58 PM not a problem, its perfect quality imo. boot looks good, you may have just sold me on the set. thanks again!!
PUMPKIN1230 02-25-2009, 04:29 AM .
Does redline sell just the e-brake boot? I'm going all leather interior and no manual stick here, just auto.
.
TRDxD 02-25-2009, 05:04 AM hrmmm....i have a solution
swap in a manual :) aha just kidding. if you look at the ordering section of the website it has a menu bar that gives you the option for ebrake shift boot only.
