Default Best HID kit for xB w/ Sonar projectors

I've done a few searches for this, and id doesn't help that HID is only three letters so it doesn't search very well.

I have Sonar's with low beam projector lenses, I'm looking to put HID lights in the low beam only (9006 size bulb) at 6k, pretty standard fare. What is the best HID brand to go with and keep it under $200 (or are all the sub-200 brands not worth it?)

I've seen MobileHID, Xentec, Xenith, the 3BSpec kit, etc. Price swings from $120 - 180, what's the difference and what is better. I'm sure most people will think the brand they happened to buy is the best, what I want to know is why you think so, or if not, what is bad about it.

Please keep criticism constructive, sponsors are welcome to chime in but keep in mind your comments will be viewed as having bias, so try and keep it to technical reasons.

Honestly... most kits are all the same at this point.

I have the 3BSpecs in my headlights (H4) and the slim digitals from Umnitza in my fogs (9006)

If I had to buy another set, I'd get em from 3BSpec. His kits have worked without fail, and when I had a bulb/ballast go bad, he sent a new ballast and pair of bulbs right away.

The service you get from him is fantastic.

The Umnitza kit is fine too, I've only had it for a couple months though. I headed up a 20 kit group buy and I know that several of the kits had some strange quirks, and the harnesses for the H4s had to be repinned.

So yea... I'd go with the one's Operatic sells (3BSpec).

3BSpec now has slim ballasts, anyone have experience with them? I'm kind of between them and MobileHID at this point, anything that makes the MobileHID kit better? I believe the slim kit, using solid state components, would have a greater reliability in an automotive environment. I also wonder about with MobileHID filling the entire ballast with a resin how do they cool the electrical components, generally speaking things which are electrically insulating are also thermally insulating.

I suppose I could always build my own ballast and just buy the bulbs.

wow, why the heck would you build your own ballast?

anyway, the 50W slim digitals come with bulbs that are apparently a little shorter, which i think works better for our sonars... (hb4)

i recommend "umnitza"

I have the slims from Umnitza... they're fine, but occasionally, one of the lamps will not fire. You need to turn them off and back on. I'm not sure if this is due to a lack of a relay harness, but I'm guessing adding a relay harness wouldn't be a bad idea.

one year strong with www.mobilehid.com in the headlamps and fogs with no problem.
mobileHid.com spent the time and money top purchase and test all the kits and nothing compares to ones they offer. The slim ones in paticular didn't withstand normal abuse over a short duration of time.

Guess I'll update, I ended up going with the 35W slim kit from Umnitza. it came with the relay but I have that exact same issue. Now I feel like I have OCD, I flick the lights twice every time I turn them on to be sure, it seems to be the passenger side only.

I have MobileHID and the dual halo sonars. Light output is pretty good, very fine line between light and no light with the projectors though, doesn't seem to really disipate well. No probs with mobile, setup with easy, quality work.

Digital hids last longer, period, the slim ones do.

The new ones for the lowest price out there are the same as the others are selling for $125+
