For those xB owners that HAVE the Bazooka Subwoofer...
What do you think of it really? Lots of people on other posts chime in, but it is usually people that don't have it saying don't get it.
I am by no means an audiophile, but I do listen to music a lot. I listen to a variety of music from classical to rap and would like the extra low-end that I'd assume the Bazooka tube would put out. I don't want "rattle the windows" bass. I know I could get somthing "bigger and boomier" for that much money, but I just want something to compliment the stock system.
Does it add nice lows? Do you find it sufficient? How is the adjustability of the subwoofer? Can you adjust it from the headunit and the sub or just one or the other.
Thank you for your opinions!

ok, yes I have the bazooka, yes there are better options out there, but to answer your question, I really am quite happy with it, like you I'm not a audiophile, I just like a little extra lowend, the Bazooka tube gives me enough to make me happy. it will still make your rear plate rattle if you want. You set it up by setting all your head unit settings to 0 then turn the volume where you want it, then on the sub there is a little dial you use to dial in the amount of Bass you like. Then after doing that I run the stock head unit on the xB setting with the treble at -1 and bass at +3 works for me.
Plus if I need to haul something it take about 30 seconds to pop it out so I have a little extra storage.
BTW my wife drives a 2004 Matrix xr too. She loves it but now wants a tC!

How is the distortion level? Does it distort easily if you turn it up high?
IAxB, regarding the adjustments; do you find yourself having to readjust the **** on the sub for different musics or can you mainly use the Bass setting on the headunit?
Thanks!
Jeremy
i have the bazooka N.O.S. look 8" tube and 250 watt bazooka amp. i picked up both of them for under 200$ and just used a line-out convertor with the stock deck. i've never heard the one that the dealer offers, but mine pounds pretty hard for just being one 8". had to dynamat the whole rear door cuz it shook it so much. plus its got the cool factor cuz it fools 90% of the people that look at it into thinking its real noz.
Just go to the dealer and listen to the one in their demo vehicle. All the demo's I've seen have had it in them. I wasn't impressed for the money. I figured I'd go with a cerwin Vega 8" or something in a small box that could just as easily be removed and get more sound for less money.

I love mine. And frankly, I subscribe to the old Cerwin Vega line, which was:
"Loud is beautiful, if it's clean."
The sub offers low end, and clear low end (none of this pssst fuzz crap that passes for low end nowadays...)
I like to hear the whole range of audio, you know, lows, and highs. And, I'm a sound engineer as well , and frankly, it's fine.
Not knocking those who put in a lot of subs and $$ in their xB's. I'm just saying, that mine is, pound for pound, just fine. And I also dig the fact that I still have storage space back there.

I too am not too picky on my sounds. But I do notice a difference in "richness" of the bass coming from my Bazooka compared to my previous JL Audio sub/enclosure.
The when the Bazooka hits.. it hits to be heard. My previous sub hit to be heard and felt (if that makes any sense)... and it didn't cost as much. I wish I didn't give it away to my sister.
The Bazooka does distort on me on times. But I just adjust that from the settings on the HU. I have only adjusted the setting on the sub once. It was set too low when I bought the car.

I have 2 of the bazooka nos bottles myself. They sound great for the money but I would not get them from the dealer. For the price you pay at the dealer you could get 2 at your local stereo shop.

Last time I checked the Matrix was FWD...
Jeremy once I set the dial on the sub I've left it alone, any fine tuning I do with the controls on the head unit.
the Matrix xr is available as all wheel drive but only in an auto, we are a manual tranny household so hers is fwd. plus the xr only has 130hp the tC has 160hp. She wants something sportier. Since I have the box that will become the "family" car.

You actually can get them in all wheel drive. My wife has an XR as well, but we opted not to get the AWD. She loves it!
you asked about the bracket, its screwed to the floor the tube sits right behind the left passanger seat, ( right behind my daughters carseat) I think it looks pretty clean. When you pop the sub out just the bracket remains, its not flat to the floor but it lets you get bigger stuff in pretty easily.
I have a 10" tube that took from my other car. I like the way it sounds...It's not going to win any Db Drags, but it sounds good to me. The only problem would be how some of my Mp3 are burned. Some have weird bass/mid settings, so it hard to adjust because I am using just the stock headunit.
i was gonna get a bazoka tube but the sound really isnt that great to me, you can get them at circut city for less than than 200, so i spent an extra 50 an got a infinity basslink, which is awsome, and its smaler than the tube and sounds 10 time clearer, and not to mention its made by infinity,
I have the Bazooka. I was looking for what a lot of people said they were, a little extra bass. I like it, it sounds good to me. And I might get another one just to balance out the look of the the rear cargo area.
Dear germ79... I do not have one because I do not like the sound or physical shape... there are other options (ie under seat) that make much more sense. The 'zooka' is meant to be a boomer not an audiophile speaker... check out the
Polk Audio MMC6500.... about $275.
