ive been reading up a bit on lug nut options, and learned that there are some tuner lug nuts that wont work for stock steelies. i have tuner lugs on my current rims right now, but im afraid to use them on my steelies because im not sure if theyre appropriate — they are mcgard spline drive lugs.

im going to be riding my steelies for a while so i want something thats lighter and more decent looking than the stock lugs. i was looking into muteki closed ended lugs, because they come in red and arent as expensive as rays or anything like that (besides, why would i put lugs that are worth more than the wheels, right), but i dont know if those will work because it looks like those are also tuner lugs.

for those with dressed-up steelies, what kind of lugs are you running? so far ive been seeing mostly chrome lugs, but are those a specific type that is different from the tuner lugs that mcgard and muteki make?

As long as it has the conical seat, you'll be fine.

see, heres what confuses me, the disclaimer near the bottom of this page:

http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=WORK-RSLUG-RED&Category_Code=L1&Store_Code=EM

it says these are not made for oem wheels. they make it seem like they will get damaged or something

If you compared the seat on the stock lugs with the seat on the aftermarket, they'll be the same.

I had gorillas on my steelies for a while and my splines will fit too...

Basically, that disclaimer is there since not all stock wheels have a cone seat.
Hondas, for instance tend to have a ball seat, some wheels use the flat seat.

In these instances, the lugs aren't going to work since they won't seat properly.

However, since the xB uses a conical seat anyway, it's fine.

Pretty much and 45 degree tapper lug will work with the steelies. I've run several diffrent chrome tuner lugs with mine with zero issues.
