Default supercharger noises, just installed

i just installed the super charger today and start it up, and it is chatering kinda loud. never had a supercharger so maybe its normal? so i go drive it and go wot 1st,2nd, go into 3rd and this extreamly loud ratterling/ grinding noise happens so i let off and it is not there any more. again drivin in 5th downshift into 3rd like 4500k it starts making the noise again. it seems to pull the same if the noise is happing or not. any one else have this?

08 scion tc 6.5k miles installed by my self.

it is going to the dealer monday for the tune but all i did was start it and drive it down the street. a tune shouldnt have anything to do with the noises.

from what I understand, you're not supposed to drive it until you get the chip reflashed....

u know u should be treating your car. like it has a brandnew motor for atleast 1000 miles. just like the motor it needs to be broken in properly. I don't know your mechanical abilities by if you are anything less than a toyota trained tech u should have spent the extra money and gotten it installed from the dealer especially with the problems the supercharger tends to have. yes the sc is noisy but what u describe seems to be somthing else. good luck.

Just don't drive it...you will be fine...I think your dumb for not letting toyota install the SC, but that is your choice!

that is what it is supposed to sound like, if it doesn't, you may have messed something up. and yes, a tune is very important, don't drive without it. people HAVE blown their engines driving after installing the supercharger and not tuning.

first of all, as someone mentioned already, you're suppose to properly break in the supercharger..if this isn't done right, it can cause you further headaches down the road. and i'm sure you don't want that especially since toyota didnt install it. besides the 1 yr/12000 mile part warranty, if anything happens after that it could turn out to be a mess.

Second, you REALLY shouldnt be beating on it if it doesn't even have the reflash yet. that's just asking for problems.

and finally, the TRD s/c rattles, hisses, and makes a variety of cacophony (<-- studying for pcat and using my new vocab ) and unfortunately, it's mostly normal. but you'll get used to it.
