I went up to Carmax to get an appraisal on my 05 BSP 5-spd xb with 40k miles and they offered 9500. I still owe about 5k on the loan so I'd have about 4500 cash after paying it off. I was fine with that part... only problem is that I can't find another car I want that I can afford. I think i'll keep her a bit longer - or buy a motorcycle but i'm scared of dying on those things.

I've seen it but I don't want to buy another new car. I'm looking to save money on payments this time around.

ouch, and the sad part is, they turn around and sell it for at least 12K because of it being good on gas.

Screw the stealership.

Werd... they have 05s with more miles than mine going for almost 15k on their website. Carmax is such a scam.

You have 5k more to pay off the box. You want to sell it, but not make payments on anything else. Just what do you think your gonna get for 4K after you pay taxes and any other closing costs? A Yugo, thats what youll get.

With fuel prices the way they are I don't understand how any sane person would even think about getting rid of a box. That's crazy talk.

I didn't say no payments, the goal is lower payments. I'm still looking around but all signs point to keeping the XB. Gas prices don't bother me that much though - I don't live far from work.

But your payments on your current car are more then 2/3rds done. I would ( and have ) rather have no payment and a quality car vs. a different car every couple years. Maybe thats it, you have an itch to drive something new or different. If fuel isnt an issue i would suggest you pay more towards your principal and pay off your car earlier.

I agree with people on this thread... keep the box. You wont know what you're missing until you dont have it anymore. KEEP IT!

Gotten any low interest balance transfers in the mail lately? That's how I bought my car a year and a half ago. 3.9% for life, no fees, no minimum purchases required. It's getting harder to find them, but it is a possibility. Pay off the loan with a convenience check, and make your payments to the CC. The plus side is you can adjust your payment, and you get the title to the car.

Nah no low interest credit card junk mail lately. I don't use credit cards after I got in some trouble with them - just cash and a debit card these days.

Anyway, i'm keeping the box... I just bought a set of NGK Platinums and some Royal Purple gear oil for the tranny. :)

If all you want is a lower payment, then you should be able to find a way without selling your xB. Because you'll just have to replace it with something and you'll be losing money on both the sell and buy. If you want to refinance, you'd better do it soon- there's a minimum and $5k sounds about it.

Our roads are bad and our drivers worse in northern VA. Take a look at bB2NER's accident photos and see if you still want one! Maybe it would work out if you're way down south or west and want to take the HOV lanes. I still don't think it would be fun to have a motorcycle as your only transportation and you have to ride in the rain/cold/heat.

I live near Harrisonburg so it's not so bad down here but a bike would not be my only transportation. For now i'm just keeping the xb because I can't find anything else I really like more enough to go through the hassle of selling it.

I did just change the tranny fluid and it was a bigger pain than I thought it would be. I did find that with a long enough hose, you can fill it from the engine bay. The fill hole is near where the bottom air snorkel is for the air box so I just snaked the hose down the engine bay and stuck it in the fill hole and squeezed out the two quarts that way. I didn't see much come out of the hole after putting in the 2 quarts... tranny could have been low I suppose.

ok that is not fair reasoning. what happened to him is so easily preventable. with the proper preparation, riding a motorcycle is a great economical solution.

My cousin was killed riding a motorcycle because some idiot pulled out in front of him, he laid over his bike, but slide into the rear bumper and broke his neck. My stupid boss was driving to work last year and pulled out in front of a motorcyclist. They hit the side of his car going slow, barely made a dent, but still messed up their bike and their leg pretty bad.

I'm not anti motorcycle, I just see a lot of people who can't drive. That's beside the people who my friends said will consciously try to get in their way or run them off the road.

Riding is a crap shoot, that's for sure. I'm still not sure if I want to go at it or not. I do wish a lot of the Harley riders around here would eat pavement. Loud pipes annoy people and they don't save lives.

first thing would have been to get there trade in quote on paper then og to 3 or 4 other dealerships and make them beat what the other place would give you for the same car. if they all want your business 1 or 2 of them will bring you closer to what you want for the car.
