It finally arrived!!! TRD Cold Air Intake is here.

Does anyone have any installation tips or quirks that would help?
It looks straight forward but many times it ends up not being too easy. The disassembly and battery part look to be a PIA.

it is very easy to do. you won't have any trouble with it especially if you are using the instructions. i did mine myself without the instructions and took me 2 hours total, which includes playing a couple games of ping pong and drinking too.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm looking forward to the install in a couple of weeks.... a little too busy with the family stuff..... The box with the TRD CIA is just sitting there begging to be installed.

Too bad I SUCK at ping pong...... I'll just stick to the drinking part.

Well... I had a buddy assist with the install yesterday. We did the suspention springs, strut tower tie, and the TRD CAI.

For the most part, the TRD CAI was really easy. The only thing that was a big pain was trying to get the air filter cover clamped on while the air box was mounted. The top of of the cover just didn't want to latch on. I enventually took off the air box and clamped the cover on outside the car and then reassembled again. It's going to be a pain when I need to service the filter .... in about 3 or 4 years...... My daily commute isn't too far.

With the TRD CAI installed, the area where the stock air box used to be sure look really void and empty....

I'm planning on ordering a TRD CAI. I'm wondering whats the best time interval to clean/replace the filter? How do you clean it?

The filter is very similar to the K&N type. I like to use the same info from k&N:

As far as when to clean....
It really depends on your environment. If you drive in very dusty areas a lot, I'd clean my filter every 10k miles. For normal driving non-dusty roads, 30k miles. Although, it's always a good idea to always check your filter AT LEAST once a year. I like to inspect mine at very other oil change.

BTW - If the filter is properly maintained, it should last the life of the car.

Another thing about these filters is DO NOT OVER OIL them. I've talked to many Toyota repair guys who always have to replace those expensive air sensors because the owner over oiled the filter and contaniminated the sensors. Before placing the filter back in, let the filter dry first.

Just got my TRD intake installed the other day and man i love it. Alonge with my TRD Sway and TRD Strut Bar.
TRD intake works well and sounds amazing!
