Default New to XB -Vancouver-Canada

Hey everyone!

I'm seriously thinking about picking up an XB (silver/auto)
Love the way it looks ever since I saw it. I went to look at cars the other day and was very put off with how every car out there looks exactly the same. The Box is refreshing.

Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to test drive one (even sit in one yet) because I'm just outside Vancouver Canada and they are still a bit hard to come by.

I had a few questions - love your input!

My main concerns are 1) highway driving ( Because of the shape - do they get pushed around badly because of the wind?) I don't want to be fighting my car on long/fast drives.

2) Safety - The sides seem thin and front end very short. How do the XB do in any sort of collision? Do you feel safe in your XB? -

Scion crash test video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2TwDrkAm_U

Other than that - I'm pretty much sold - looking forward to your replies and meeting some other Canadian XB lovers!

Hello there fellow Canuck!!!!!!

I have had mine for right about 3 years now and I love it. The worst part I have come across is if you are in to customization we have to order nearly every thing from the USA, which means shipping expenses.

As for your questions in my experience the wind will move the box around. However it is no worse than any little car. I do a fair amount of highway driving and have never had a problem. The big trucks don’t generate enough wind to move the xb around, it only gets pushed a little on flat roads, that have no trees around, but even then the wind has to be pretty strong.

As per the accident question, I have no idea.. I have never been in an accident in my xb. I do feel extremely safe while driving mine. But you would have to test drive one to understand.

I would say go for it, they are fun, great looking, and you will get attention every where you go.

Feel free to drop me a line if you have any other questions.

as far as getting blown around on the freeway..
the box always goes where you point it

neither my wife or myself has found getting blown around as a problem at all
in fact the biggest gripe we have about it..is there are no map lights
great little car..the xB is

Thanks for the feedback guys! and nice to meet another Canadian on here. ( I used to live in Toronto for while )

Glad to hear about the wind not really being an issue. As for safety, I was looking at some other crash test results and it turns out the other car I was looking at ( Mazda 3 ) get the same side impact rating as the XB. I thought because of the added size and price it would be better - but apparently not!

My wife has driven my xB under 10 times in almost 4 years.

I don't let gf's drive my car now - one of my last girlfriends totaled my little Honda civic. Thank god she was ok! The car did a great job of keeping her alive! But she made a stupid mistake and almost died. Also, I never could find another civic in that shape great of again! haha

That's kinda why I was asking about scion safety. I'm a good driver - I'm just worried about other people out there.. you never know..

welcome to (potentially) to the scion fraternity, have you found a box yet ?
I bought one last week end
PS about safety they have traction control + stability control and being higher the view is better + other cars would contact lower then if you were in a lower car
PPS here's mine

It's healing inward. The parts that have healed are pink now like sunburn kinda sorta. The dressing changes are now down to 30 minutes from 1.5 hrs. Also finally heard from the adjuster on the bike. We're getting right up to max allowed without being totalled so it's all good.

Hey Richmond2000 - thanks for the info on the meet! I'd love to come out just to see all of them together like that!

I've just started my search for a box - wish me luck! I was looking at the one you got online (congrats btw!) but I'm looking for an automatic. Funny thing too is my name is Jason and I'm 31 so that was a strange coincidence! haha

I'm looking at probably having to import one in from the US - I found this link on the steps to do so - https://www.scionlife.com/forums/arc...and-cheap.html

Can anyone vouch for how accurate that still is (was posted in 2006) not sure if anything changed since then?

My wife and I work together so she was always driving my Polar White 06. She saw the light and traded her 03 Accord for a Blue Onyx Pearl 06. Being a two-box family isn't such a bad thing afterall.

I'm still jealous BTW. I'd love to get Joanie a Box but her Nissan just keeps on ticking. Hopefully in 2 more years we will just get her one and have the Nissan as a beater for me to drive on rainy days.
