Yeah, but I was more interested in just painting the housings black, so as to not really affect the light output and give it a *sigh* JDM look (not really, I just think it would look cool)

Yeah the guy who's car got stolen had his lights painted on his Xa. It looke pretty sweet too.

Ok...I searched for his name and saw some really cool pics. I think I wouldn't paint THAT much of the headlight, just the part that isn't involved in reflection of light. Thanks for the name though...sucks his car was stolen :(

i'd do it not too hard. u gotta do the "oven method" then reseal em afterwards . a good cheap mod that will make you stand out from the rest.

When you paint, but don't want to paint the reflective surfaces, do you just use regular masking tape or is there a better way to do it (since it's kind of an irregular shape)

masking or scotch. i'd use a thin masking tape. they sell it as thin as like 1/4 or 1/2

or have a Vinyl guy cut out some perferct masks for you in vinyl so both sides are identical... just a thought..

but that would take more money , and u would need to take yer lights to a shop and that all equals more down time. and nobody's perfect vinyl guy or not.

Actualy if you measure how big of a circle you want left reflective, you can have the vinyl guy cut it at any time ( not while your lights are out, before preferably)... shouldent cost more than $10 or so.. and I have to say the Vinyl guy IS perfect.. its computer generated, and both will be EXACTLY the same size and PERFECTLY round.. somthing you will NEVER get by masking it out by hand.. Garunteed.

I bought some broken ones off ebay for $35.

Ihave them painted just not installed yet. I am adding my wide body kit first.

the housing may be a separate part... it was on my subaru. That made it really easy:

- Just stick the lights in the oven
- pry them apart
- spray paint the entire housing, no need to tape it off
- let them dry
- put them back together with a little bit of fresh black sealant.
- stick em back in the oven for a bit.
- done.

nah they're two pieces the lens and the housing so taping off/whatever would have to be done . not too hard tho. most people are probably more afraid of prying the lights apart.

I might consider it when I try to pop out the yellow lens for the clear look. Only problem is that we don't have an oven @_@ Maybe I can substitute it with a hairdryer...

attaching the headlamp back together will have to be the most hard part about it. Because you know how mad your going tobe when it rains and the water is just moving around in there!!
