So we just got a new BSP xA on the lot last night. I got in it, adjusted the rearview mirror and though to myself "wow, it feels like there is a lot more room in here." I couldn't quite put my finger on the reason untill I got in our RS 1.0 and noticed I couldn't see out the back window. Then it hit me... the xA's are now coming with rear headrests that are 2/3 to a half the size of the original ones.

So if anyone is concerned about the rearward visibility, see your local dealer and pick yourself up a pair.

That's good news. Scion is responding to feedback, then. Maybe next year the armrest will even be included upon delivery. Of course, that'll probably be the last year for the xA, since the planned availability is supposed to be about 3 model years.

By "now" and "original", do you mean the 2005 models vs. the 2004s?

Well, all the xA's we have on the lot are 2005's, but I guess the 05's that have been manufactured in the last month or so are coming with shorter headrests.

Matt,

Any chance of seeing a picture or two...? I took the headrests out of my RS 1.0 for that reason alone. I'd like to put them back in for rear passengers. Are they available to order as a replacement part or anything like that yet??? And if so, any idea what the cost will be??

Ditto. Pictures would be awesome, and if any dealers can clarify the cost (if any) to get a pair of the new short headrests in lieu of our old tall ones it'd be greatly appreciated by all :)

Pricing I don't know... but I am just guessing... now this is just a guess... that they are available now

If you need them ASAP I will be willing to sell you the ones we have in this xA. I'll price them at $13,990... and I'll throw in a free xA with them

Does that come with free shipping? Lol. Just wondering if you could order them separate or not, I'm sure they show up in the parts catalog by now. I'll ask my local dealer when I get free oil change #2 next week.

Not sure. Our parts dept closes at 1:00 on Saturday so I can't have them look up the price till Monday.

I just got my car last week. I'm anxious to get out to my car after work (25 more minutes) to see which ones I have. :?

I know that the TC headrests in the back look like the xA/xB center one (the really short one). And I also know that the side ones from a TC fit in the xA/xB. So you could have all three in the back look like the one in the middle.

I got the short ones! :D I just got my xA last week, so I checked and I have the smaller ones in the photo above. I was wondering why people were complaining about the rear headrests. :?

I have a 2005 xA and it does have the smaller headrests. Makes it possible to fold down the rear seats without removing the headrests which is a big deal for me cuz I have my cargo area filled with work stuff. Sweet, ... and big!

Contacted scion, and they said they couldn't help me out. I asked if they would swap my old headrests for the new ones.
Hey, I had to try. $300=hell no!
