Yeah it helps with the downforce when where goen 150mph. I got the carbon fiber one from bbist and the downfoce is awesome. The wing isn't for looks! That was years of Toyota developement to get the right amount of drag coeficient............I'm kidding, It's for looks and nothing else.

I know on some box shape cars such as the old s-blazers, the wing helps keep the back window cleaner and reduces the vacuum effect cause by the shape. Not sure if this one does that or it was designed for looks. i know that it does help to keep the dust off the back window at least.

turtle ur right...My Pathfinder has a little spoiler at the top of the rear hatch. I used to not have it there...and hot damn it was the dirtiest part on my truck....after getting it...it really did make a difference because some airflow diverted itself down and pushed all that nasty crap down. And I guess it could serve some aesthetic purposes for those who are buying it for looks.
