View Full Version : Loving my XA Too!

I got my Indigo Ink Pearl just this past week. I have never fallen in love with a car so quickly. I chose the auto, cause I do a lot of city/traffic driving, and was just sick of the whole stick in traffic thing. But I did get the AEM intake, and I like the extra little hmmph and growl it gives to the engine.

The seats are comfy, if a little stiff. My fuel econcomy was great. First fill up avg'd 36 mpg. I get people coming up to me all the time asking me about it. I love that I didn't get the XB. Cause now everyone is getting one, and no one seems to have the XA............yet. But, I know that's not gonna last. I am going to splurge for the keyless/alarm on my first oil change. The damn paint is just waiting to get scratched on the door handle, with my fumbling with the key in the dark.

I have no problem with the performance of the engine, other than it's a little loud at high speeds, and seems to idle a little roughly in the cold morning. But, I have seen many other posts with this mentioned, so I am not worried.

Only things I wish I could change.....

Center arm rest
Coin holder/more cubby space
rear cup holder
bigger buttons on the stereo controls, i.e. a volume knob

I noticed a rattle in the back for the first couple of days that drove me nuts. It was 2 things. One was the dealer plates were not fastened tight enough so they rattled. And the second was the T-cover in the back. I had to tape the end of it so it would not rattle when I hit a speed bump. I used some velcro too, and that seemed to help. But I still get the occasional rattle.

SCION Customer care has been so excellent. I was going to buy the Mazda 3 5 door, but I am glad I saved 3 grand, and bought a SCION XA instead.

Don't forget to add a sport muffler. Vroom, vroom!

Look into getting an aftermarket alarm like the Viper or Clifford. I love my Clifford Matrix alarm... has awesome range. I was at a restaurant a half a mile away from where my XA was parked inside a garage, and my pager was still receiving the signal.

What is the warranty coverage on accessories like the AEM intake, and the TRD sport Muffler? Is it only for 12 months? Or is it for the 3 yr, 36k miles?

and

How much should I expect to pay for the TRD exhaust plus install from the dealer?

I bought my sport muffler thru the dealer for $299 installed. I'm sure there are all different kinds out there, but I did go thru them in order to keep my warranty intact. DibujoB should be able to answer the warranty question, as I forgot to ask that myself, lol.
