Eddieg 12-12-2004, 02:26 AM As I await for the shipment of my box from St. Louis I got the title from Fed-ex the other day, So I signed the title and but it away. I needed my wife to sign the title also so I pulled it out tonight, and as I was looking over it I noticed this:
CYL: 4 HP:17 not 170, not 108 but 17!!! I geuss I'll really get good gas mileage with this engine. I think my R/C car will be faster than my box! Oh well just can't wait to get it and see what a 17HP engine looks like:)

Scipio 12-12-2004, 02:37 AM That's funny.
On my title I noticed that the State of Michigan classifies this as a station wagon. Is that the official designation for this car? I never gave a thought as to exactly what it is, but am amused that I now own a "station wagon".
Eddieg 12-12-2004, 02:40 AM Hummm the title on mine says UTIL so I guess I own a 17hp SUV! LOL
TOAST3R 12-12-2004, 03:01 AM That's funny.

mine says 2005 toyota truck, but i dont have truck plates
superjeer 12-12-2004, 03:12 AM it's a subcompact wagon. 17hp. maybe they know something we dont?! Some briggs and straton rotary engine in there!
EPA classifies it as an MPV, actually. MultiPurpose Vehicle. The same classification as SUV's.
That is why the xBs are able to have tinted windows from the factory on the rear 3/4.
Subcompact wagons, sedans... etc. Nothing else is allowed to have that type of tint from the factory under federal law because so many states have different of rules about tint. In Washington DC for example, you cannot have any aftermarket tint at all on ANY windows!
hotbox05 12-12-2004, 03:44 AM no its a micro van not mpv. it is classified as a micro van to bee 100 percent right. maybe they consider micro to still be a mpv. i unno just chiming in.

ya my insurance calls it a microvan, but i cxalled it that in the forums here and someone went nuts, they said its a station wagon, i dont drive no van.
somehow they thought a wagon is better than a van, i could care less. its a vehicle.
bBlover 12-12-2004, 03:58 AM The only way to solve this is to ask someone from Scion.

I'm not sure where the 'microvan' term comes from, but it doesn't exist as far as the U.S. government is concerned.
It's an MPV, according to EPA.
"Microvan" seems like a misnomer to me. How is it a van? It has four doors and a tiny cargo area. Doesn't sound like any van I've heard of.
It's just a tomato/toMAHto thing. I've had people call it a "truck", "wagon" and "SUV".
Uncle Sam says it's an MPV though, if you want to be exact.
fr130 12-12-2004, 04:26 AM NHTSA classifies it under VAN, same class as the PT Cruiser.
TJandBOXCARWILLIE 12-12-2004, 06:48 AM My title from Florida says it's a UT.
Which I guess means Utility (?)
its_ikon 12-13-2004, 12:49 AM if i remember correctly, there was an xB title that said it was a v6 or v8
hotbox05 12-13-2004, 01:22 AM no it is a micro van as far as epa is concerned.
lonewolfxb 12-13-2004, 02:06 AM in ga. mine is listed as a minivan, but my window sticker calls it a small wagon, when feb. comes and i check the taxes,i will be hunting the lowest tax class.it needs to be called a freakin go kart!haha.
chadfo 12-13-2004, 03:12 AM I've heard van, wagon, and suv. It doesn't matter in any case as long as it doesn't get SUV insurance rates. I don't really see how it could be classified as sport utility. It doesn't have the suspension or ground clearance to anything but be an urban personnel transport vehicle.
SpeedlinebB 12-13-2004, 10:48 AM In hawaii, my title says mpv. It also has mpv stamped on the sticker on the inside door jam.

That's true too.. If the state considered it a wagon it'd be illegal :) my insurance says wagon though. I dunno. It's unclassifiable! [sic]
erichlf 12-13-2004, 06:56 PM Here in NV they tried to list it as a Truck. I laughed at them, and told them it was a subcompact, so they changed it.
