Does anyone else think it's weird the xD doesn't have a dead pedal (left foot rest). The first time I drove it, the carpet threw me off completely...
Has anyone drilled one in yet? I'll be ripping the carpet out next week... but just wanted to see if anyone has touched it yet.

I hope you guys are also mentioning this on the survey that Scion sent out. I received an online survey about a month after I got the car and I mentioned the lack of dead pedal and of course fog lights.
I noticed the lack of dead pedal when I test drove the car. I try not to put my left foot there on the carpet where it should be.

lol! we're going to be using the styrofoam to brace ourselves on the track... oh yea... I'll hit up a few places to see what can be done. It's a bit ridiculous LOL! I had just assumed it was solid under there so my styrofoam is probably squished by now LOL!
Just curious, you get a lot of fog in Ohio?

You can put something like this in:
http://www.amazon.com/RAZO-RP86A-Com.../dp/B000FJS1L6
or this:
http://www.amazon.com/RAZO-RP106A-SP.../dp/B000FJS41I
alone with the rest of the matching pedals.
You don't really have to rip the carpet out, it kinda folds out. And I inserted a small synthetic panel(about the thickness of a pedal screw) between the styrofoam and the carpet to have something solid to screw the pedal into. Worked fine for me.
I'd post the pictures if I knew how to ))

It depends. I live outside of the city, so depending on how the weather is, I might. In fact, this morning, before the sun came up, it was foggy. I've been in some fog down in Southern OH along the OH river.. where you can't even see the white lines on the edge of the road. Just hope there are no deer about to run out.
Also too, it's a personal preference. I'd rather them have not put the cut outs there, since there was not an option to get them from the factory installed. The old V-6 mustangs used to do the same thing.

The misterious object above is a mini cutting board with 2 layers - hard plastic (visible) and rubber on the other side.

Align the right edge of the plastic base with the right edge of the styrofoam and the bottom edge with the floor.
I didn't cut the pannel to exact size and glue it to the styrofoam, but you can. I just aligned it and put the carpet back in place on top of it.

For the pedals install you won't need my instructions - Razo instructions are perfect.

Finished job ! The dark spots on the floormat is my sweat ))) It's very hot here ...
Oh, almost forgot. Here's the matching shift ****:
It is the second xD I've done it to. On the first one that area was filled with some synthetic material that appeared less fragile than the styrofoam in this one.
So, you'll have to see what you've got when you lift that carpet...
Meantime, this area is where you supposedly just put your foot to rest )))
So, if you're not usually doing anything crazy with your left foot while driving your car you should be just fine.
Esthetically, while with the gas and brake pedal you pretty much have to choose from the smaller sizes available, on dead pedal you can probably put something larger than I did and it'll look even better. Check out Razo products by Carmate and Levoc by Napolex - those are the best Japanese car accessories companies I know.
BTW, here's something dirty cheap(but you'll have to inquire about the measurements);

Wait you actually have Styrofoam under the carpet in your RS 1?? Wow.. that is just so.. cheap! Could it be that all the newer models, RS 1's and 09's, will being using styrofoam instead of the synthetic material for the padding?
