Okay, I feel better now. I put a good coat of wax on my xA on Saturday. I really wanted to get that done before they start salting the roads around here this winter. Luckily, Saturday was warm enough (just barely) to hand wash the car in my driveway. Then I dried it good, backed it into my garage, and spent the next 2 hours hand-waxing it. It's smooth as glass now. 8)

I love this stuff. I know it's not one of the $40 a bottle, super-high-tech wonder polishes that are out now, but I'll stick with it. It's super easy to use and I'm always impressed with the results. I use the "liquid" in the bottle. It's more of a creamy paste than a liquid.

I use Zaino. It's $12 a bottle and beads water like mad for over 3 months. The expensive waxes like Pinnacle and Zymol are great for show cars but Zaino really holds up to everyday driving.

Meguiar's makes some pretty good stuff but it doesn't last too long.

Wow. Looks like that guy was really impressed with the Zaino product. I wish that test included the Meguiar's product that I used. It tested a different version. Oh well. One thing though; What's with all the other Zaino stuff the article mentioned (ZFX, Z1, Z2...etc)? I'm interested in the product, but I don't want something that's going to be a 3 step, $60 process to wax my car. Can you use just the wax? Which one is it?

The hardcoreZaino nuts go all out but that's not necessary.

You can use just the Z2 or Z5. The Z2 is great for new cars with no light scratches on the paint. The Z5 fills light scatches and swirl marks.

My RX8 was red metalic and when I got the car the dealers detail dept did a crap job on my car. They must have used dirty towels because I could see tons of scratches under florsent lights. I got the Z5 and the marks disappeared.

I did my xA over a month ago when I got the car. Over the last week it's been raining a lot and the car still beads like crazy. After a wash it still feel smooth as silk.

The other cool thing about Zaino is each additional coat adds more depth and shine to your car.

Probably the Z2. I got the ZFX but that stuff is $20. It's not needed but it speeds up the process. Without the ZFX you need to let the Zaino dry for a few hours before removing. I just finshed my first bottle of Zaino and I still have over half of the ZFX left.

most say let dry to a haze and then wipe off i would do a big section of the car then when im done id wipe it off should i let it sit longer and should i use a buffer if i let it sit longer?

I used the polish, followed by the glaze, and then the wax. Man, the paint was smoother than a baby's butt. And with the recent rain, it hardly spotted at all.

I love that stuff.

if it is hot outside:
apply wax to an area
apply wax to another area
go back and wipe of area that was first waxed
apply wax to a third area
go back and wipe of area that was waxed second and so on

if it is cold (ideal, but not freezing cold, so cal cold):
you can apply wax to the whole car and then start at the beginning wiping it off. if you notice it hazing before you finish then see if you can finish up the waxing. if not, you can always apply it after wiping some of it down

With Zaino you need to let it completely dry before buffing it off.
