Default HVAC behind glove compartment

Does anyone know if the HVAC plastic piece is universal for a lot of other Toyotas? The reason I ask is because if you take your glove box out, youll notice at the bottom of it a part sticking out with what look to be screw holes... but no screws, and nothing to screw it into. I want to cut that off so I can custom fit a computer in there... its an off-white colored plastic... any help would be great!

You mean this?

I say hack away. I don't think anything connects to those bottom pieces. Yes, it's probably used in other vehicles (Corolla and Matrix, I believe.)

The empty holes are used to secure horizonally mounted ECUs on Rolla/Matrix. So hack (carefully) away.

Oh... um... I'm not positive, but if you download the instructions for the alarm installation (it's been posted here before), there are two boxes that it comes with and I think they might go back there too. It would make sense since the ECU is back there and it's out of the way but not that hard to get to. Assuming you don't have Scion security, you could probably use the space without a problem.
