I have a 2007 tc. I recently purchased a Weapon-R race header (eliminates cat) at a great price for it but I am undecided on the best option for an exhaust system. Can someone advise me on the best and affordable system to purchase please? I dont want to go broke, and I also don't want to ____ off my neighbors with it being too loud.

My advice would be to get whatever axleback you like best... put that on and see how awful it sounds. Then go to a local shop and get a custom midpipe made with a highflow cat and big ___ resonator. That will quiet it down.

The header I purchased eliminates the catalytic converter so wouldn't it be useless to buy a high flow pipe with converter in it? Also, I really don't have the money or the time to be buying and swapping parts. I just don't want any old system, I want one that helps add more HP like Greddy Ti-c and Agency Power. I know I'm going to have to shell out some loot, but like I said, I ain't rich.

 

off topic question...but after installing the Weapon R Header, does it make the check engine light come on??

I haven't put it on yet. But I can tell you if you put one on, it will make the check engine light come on. To avoud this, you need to buy and install what is called a "CEL-FIX". It just cost a few dollars and will keep that from happening.

 

yup go buy your choice of axle back and then have a custom midpipe done, you dont have to install a high flow cat.. a big resonator like 30" or 2 smaller resonator maybe an 18 and 10, that will make is sound good..

 

it only eliminates the first cat i believe...if you don't have that much money for an exhaust system...i would recommend a custom setup from a local muffler shop...it'll be a lot cheaper

 

the header eliminates the first cat, the second is on the midpipe so, header and catback will be totally catless.. but a custom catback may not be very cheap either.. I say just get tsudo n1 and add a resonator and you will be around 300+install.. the shine wouldnt last long though if you care about polish

 

it all depends on the shop...a shop out here did 2 of my old cars custom exhausts...only one of em was over $100...$120 to be exact

 

The weapon r header willmake a lot of rasp.........a lot.

there is still a cat on the mid pipe .....my guess is toyota knew full well we all would ull off the header and replace it and they put the second one on......just my opinion.

get at least 24-30" of resonator put on........or it willsound horrid....

also if you got the weapon r it should of came with the CEL eliminator pipe with it.......1000 mile since mine went on and no CEL........doubt I will ever get one either......

as for exhaust (muffler)......try to find a deep toned one as even with resonators you will still get some rasp......so you need to change the tone of it with a good axle back......it is hit or miss......I am trying the GReddy Ti-C......as the TRD sucks.....if GReddy does not work I will try another till I find one that sounds good.

 

I have a DC header.

I had a Megan Drift Spec exhaust on the car and it was too loud and raspy.

I bought the Greddy Evo 2 exhaust, and it quieted down the car, but the rasp nearly doubled, it was so bad. I sounded like one of those ricer Civics.

I took it to a shop and they welded on two resonators. I have minimal rasp now. To tell you the truth, I can't hear it all at really.

 

if you want catback exhaust thats not too loud i suggest magnaflow. i just got mine on yesterday and i love it. not too loud at idle and low rpms, but noticeably louder than stock. i got mine for $392 shipped from hottexhaust.com

other than that for good and cheap system id go with all custom piping and muffler. thats usually pretty cheap compared to buying an exhaust kit

 

dont cheap out ... save and get the good stuff the first time

skunk2 or dezod na catback + aero ar25 resonator + 2.5" highflow cat

that stuff will run you around 500 - 650
