Default Ever get this reaction?

I saw this guy driving really fast in his G35. It looked a few years old so I figured what the heck, he looks like he's having fun driving a little fast, I'll have some fun with my car too, with him. So when we met at the stoplight I decided to race him. Well I faired ok, I had a split second edge on him (I think he was peeling out), but then he pulled forward about a foot right off the line even with my half-second lead (I do need to learn how to launch).

I stayed right with him from then on though, he didn't gain any ground I didn't lose any (he had an automatic). When we got up to around 70 and I just let up (I realize that was for one too fast for that street and two, where he had more power than me most likely). So I got caught by the light and he went on to the next.

Well, when I pulled up to the light where he was still at I saw him in the third lane (I was in the first) and some really fast-looking Audi in the middle so I figured it would be fun even though I would definitely lose, I just wanted to see the difference in our performances, no big deal.

Well I glance over at the G35 and guess what I saw? He was flicking me off and telling me to roll down the window. Whatever. So after struggling a bit with the window lock, I rolled down my window and he yells at me, "You shouldn't race anyone with a peice of *&% four-banger!"

This guy was like in his late thirties/early forties and me being only twenty-four, I felt a bit confused at the level of maturity this guy displayed. I yelled at him, "I was just having some fun, you don't got to take things so seriously dawg." I was hoping the little friendly dawg would disarm him a little but noooooooo, no it didn't. He just went, "Huh?" So I repeated it without the dawg. He looked drunk.

Still upset and still trying to prove whatever, he then told me that he has a Mercedes at home that could tear "that thing" apart I just said again, "Just playing around with you man, why do you have to take it so bad? There's more to life than being egotistical about your car." (I mean, he won afterall, wth?) I think he said, "Huh?" again after that. So I said again, "Just having fun, don't take it so seriously!"

He then began to rag on my car and said, "What kind of car is that anyways? Is that some kind of project car or something? Did you make that yourself? How much did it cost?"

At that point I figured why not. I told him it cost 16-thousand. At that he began to laugh histerically while repeating the price back to me. So as the light turned green I repeated to him a couple of times (because once again, he had said "Huh?" the first time I said it), "Yeah, a 16-thousand dollar car that stayed up with yours." He just continued laughing.

good story, you know about keeping up with cars that are 2x + the cost of the tc. Not to target the tc drivers, but why are most tc stories about racing?

Sounds like he was a dumb*ss to me. I love seeing old people that think that way in the celica. When I was on the bottle those are the kinds of people I would look for

if you look at my site most of the crashed tC are also due to driver error. i think its because some tC owners try to think their car is more than it really is. also i think for a majority of tC owners that this is their first brand new car or something with a bit of power. so they feel the need to accept everyones race or try racing. or just driving harder than the car can handle and crash

im not knocking tC's but people expect too much out of it.

People who say ____ like "i have an expensive mercedes at home..." are such losers. No doubt he has a small pe%^&*s.

I could have gotten a second hand beamer or lexus on my current budget, but I chose to get a brand new tC, because I liked everything about it. I dont need to hide behind a bmw logo.

And why the hell would a 40 yr old man try to ____talk on someone young 20's about money? Obviously someone older is usually more financially stable. So pathetic. I pity that person.

yeah, I love inexpensive, cool looking cars vs. more costly, cool looking car stories.

granted, I would take the g35 over the tc everyday of the week. I would have also taken an escalade over the xb, If I could have afforded the payment.

Nicely done. He's a douche, and insecure about his masculinity. No doubt he went home and kicked his dog. A$$.

Sounds like an _______ to me. He was probably just mad that you stayed with him after he paid twice for his car what you paid for yours. Granted those G35s are way nicer than tCs, but they're also like twice as much.

By the way it's "flipping me off" not "flicking me off"

Really? I've heard it called flicked before also.

Yeah, but this particular G35 I would NOT take over the tC, it looked more than a few years old. Don't know how but it did.

Funny...

Yeah... you'll meet some old fart and some old but down to earth type people.

Had an encounter with a friend who saw a Ferrari... as its on the freeway, knowing that there's not a chance he'll beat it.... he said how many time are you going to get to run with a Ferrari? Got next to it the Ferrari so they acknowledge his presence... waved.

Then he gunned it... passing it. Dodging cars... speeds in the 100+ zone then on a straight part of the freeway, you can hear the Ferrari opened up. Gone... Then it was off ramp time, the guy & his companion waved agian.

Cool... thanks for the personal demonstration as some people don't even bother when your car isn't up to par.

Dude is obviously having his mid-life crisis. He probably thought there were girls around and you were better looking than he was.

are you sure he had was really racing and not just messing around? the g35 would blow the doors off the tc even if it was an auto.

these are the specs on the g35

Horsepower
Manual Transmission 298 @ 6,400 RPM
Auto Transmission 280 @ 6,200 RPM

Torque
Manual Transmission 260 lb-ft @ 4,800 RPM
Auto Transmission 270 lb-ft @ 4,800 RPM

and only about 500lbs heavier compaired to the tc's 160hp, 163lb-ft torque

Yeah so let me get this straight. You are trying to tell us that you kept up with a 280hp G35C, with your 160hp tC....right.
