Default Installing American International TOY-K969 Dash Kit..

Im a little confused on installing my dash kit LOL.. Might sound stupid, but in the instructions it tells me to break some tabs, for xb application, im not sure exactly what it means. Also mentions something about iso mount and im not sure about that either. Here is a pic of the instructions, maybe someone can clear up what they mean, and why it says something about xb application on the xa install side.

i had that same kit off of ebay. i ran into the same problem you did. i found out i broke off the wrong tabs when i went to install it.

on the xB side where is says to break off the tabs for xA installation; break them off for the xB installation. you want to keep the tab that is slanted at the top(on the side brackets, not the faceplate) and the tab that is "hanging" off the bottom.

i hope this helps...... :D

ISO mounting means you screw the radio into the kit using the supplied screws with the radio. This is Vs Using the cage to mount the radio. Best way to not break off the wrong stuff is to use common sense... if you unscrewed a screw at that angle chances are you are gonna need that tab. Notice the slits in the brackets? That is where you attach the screw through to go to the radio.

Any more questions ask. There are a bunch of audio installers on here.

yup, they got the xA and xB switched...

if you put it next to the stock radio keep the tabs that look the same...
very simple...

it is simple if you have already taken the dash apart and the stock HU out. When I did it I didn't take the stock HU out until I had the kit put together with my unit and was ready to install it. so, i didn't know how it was really mounted in the dash.

now i know....

I had that kit and did the same damn thing. superglue and hot glue fixed me up though. I would not recommend this kit though.. mine's a little too big for the hole so it bends under the pressure.

I bought the Scosche kit from CarDomain, after buying another one from Best Buy, which was a total piece of donkey crap. The Scosche fits perfectly, matches the finish on the console, and has the nice trim ring that actually fits the aftermarket HU, making it look totally factory. That and it's much more solid.

They don't carry it, but Crutchfield, Cardomain, and a handful of other places do. It was $18 shipped to my door, got here in a bout a week from CA I believe it was.

Some brands are better then others. Violent B is just a lil partial to Metra.... Even thou thier Honda multi-kits suck. Some of the designs change but I belive with the xB being a double Din, You might have to have a pocket under it. Least thats the way mine is set up. I got mine from the local car audio shop back in june so I really don't remember who's it was. Or if there were any other brands out.

Can I just install 2 single din units in an xA, like a foldout monitor and a head unit, and not worry about the kit?

I know there mayb be a gap on the left/right sides, but top/bottom should be fine, right?

This american internatioal kit really sucks ___. im trying to put it in but its real frustrating... With an Alpine head unit, do I want to do an iso mount or din mount? The dash kit instructions mention both..

Alpine should have the finger cage. Meaning you can din mount it by pushin the entire headunit into the slot and it should lock in place

I used a scosche kit that is for an xA/xB in my tC. I have NO Brackets and it's being held in by a force of god. no leway and nothing is being pinched, it's great . I dread the day I have to take off the dash again for whatever reason (namely installing amps/SW) so I'm waiting for a tC kit to be released so it has its own brackets.
