View Full Version : I need new wheels and tires
highvoltage1 08-10-2008, 11:27 PM I have no clue what wheels to get i have a few ideas on tires. But basically im looking for a black wheel can have a polished lip but i want lightweight and prferably a 17x8 but i will go 17x7.5 unless there are someone can convince me to go 18's. but post up some of your favorite wheels and tires and pics would be nice to help a fellow PNWer to have a nicer looking ride. Oh also leanign more towards a 5 spoke. Also if someone can photoshop some wheels they like on a tC if they dont have pics of the wheels on a tC that would be awesome!!!
Thanks in advance.

Kanchi 08-10-2008, 11:33 PM I like the motegi trak lites but they don't list good sizes or the correct bolt pattern (in a good size) for the tC[/url]
highvoltage1 08-10-2008, 11:41 PM Yea i do like the look but yea that was the problem there. I have a few in mind. The perfect wheels i want are made by FLIK which they sell on edgeracing.com but those are kinda soft. I want something i can autocross in eventually. Hence the lightweight and wider tire.
Kanchi 08-11-2008, 12:32 AM ^yeah the FTD seem like a good price as well! If you brea 'em they're only like $100 and some change!
BZinn1 08-11-2008, 12:49 AM Between us all we got about 3 sets of tires.........about 8 minutes drive time on them.......got a good price for you........they are nearly new........on the sides.......LOL
Ro_Ja 08-11-2008, 12:52 AM Enkei RPF1. Available in a 17x8 and black finish.
Kanchi 08-11-2008, 01:00 AM ^another great option as well!
highvoltage1 08-11-2008, 03:15 AM Where can i get those rpf1's at!!

fokai 08-11-2008, 03:32 AM u got pm highvoltage1
highvoltage1 08-11-2008, 03:43 AM sweet^ gnna check it now
highvoltage1 08-11-2008, 04:00 AM I am really likeing the enkei rpf1's in black. They are only 15.6lbs for the 17x8's. I just need to get some money together and find soem prices. But keep the opinions coming cause i havent decided.
Ro_Ja 08-11-2008, 04:08 AM The RPF1's are just $235 from TireRack. They're having issues with giving shipping quotes on their site, but I'd estimate it would be about $40 or so.
highvoltage1 08-11-2008, 04:24 AM I just saw that they had them. I was doing some searchign and some website called gruppe-s,com said they will be the only poeple in the states with them or so they posted in a subi forum in april. But maybe that was back then. I dont think tirerack would be selling repainted rims.
highvoltage1 08-11-2008, 04:26 AM Also i may see if discount tire can gets these cause i got a 100dolla off coupon with them for wheels and tires plus i could get 12 motnh free financing with them cause i wouldnt be able to pay that amoutn upfront for these rims and tires but i would pay it off easy in like 2-3 months so i may go that route.
highvoltage1 08-11-2008, 08:16 PM Ok i went to discoutn and got a qoute on the rpf1's. But they cant get them in black unless they place an order for 40 or more. They gave me a price of 252 each. I may just go with the silver and get them painted eventually. But im trying to find a lower price on those to make them price match and i was looking at the kumho ecsta ASX's and they wanted 123 a piece anyone know where i can get a better price for price matchign as well. I am searching on my own but some of yal know places.
highvoltage1 08-12-2008, 03:50 AM I actually found soem sweet 5zigens check them out. I do like the black w/ polished lip. I know that would look good with the CF accents i want to do on the exterior. Do you think the silver ones would too. Check them out.

Oh and the kicker is i can get these wheels cheaper than the enkies if the sale dont end before i get a chance to get them.
Kanchi 08-12-2008, 04:04 AM whatever floats your boat...or keeps it in dry-dock :P
highvoltage1 08-13-2008, 10:22 AM LOL we aint leaving til Sunday now. And that can still be pushed back.

pdxine 08-13-2008, 06:25 PM Just remember that when manufacturers show pics of a certain wheel, they tend to post the biggest, widest, and lowest offset one they offer. I have seen in person the EXACT wheels you want. They are much more flat faced than that.
highvoltage1 08-13-2008, 06:29 PM You mean the 5zigens?^^
Thanks for the pics Nate. I like them but not for my ride. Kinda look medievil.
pdxine 08-13-2008, 06:32 PM You mean the 5zigens?^^

Yes the 5zigens
highvoltage1 08-13-2008, 06:46 PM I just got done googling them and i see what ya mean. but i have been checking out osme pics of subies with the 17x8's and they look good. I mean i they went in like th pics a lil more but i still like them. Thanks for the heads up though. Hey what size tire would you suggest-225,235,or245
pdxine 08-13-2008, 07:00 PM I'm not a good person to ask when it comes to tire sizing haha. Here is my current setup:
http://a834.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/38/l_4a5bd4e4e00aa11eee33a94e9be6fe99.jpg
205-45-17 on a 17x9
I prefer the tire to be slightly undersized on the wheel. No matter what the size of the wheel is. Im not saying a lot of stretch is suitable for every car or wheel and tire setup. But one thing that I personally despise is when the tire is perfectly flat with the wheel. Either go undersized or go way overs ized (like the 245 you mentioned).
highvoltage1 08-13-2008, 07:20 PM I defintely dont like that look. I would like to be just over the lip of the wheel with my tire to help with curbing. But once i get these rims no more drive thrus.
pdxine 08-13-2008, 07:33 PM Its certainly not for everyone. And I haven't ever had a problem with curbing (it was already on the wheels when purchased).
But for the look you want to acheive, a 225 Kumho would suit you perfectly. Even though tires have standardized sizes, they are like shoes. Just because you are an 11 in Nike's, doesn't mean an 11 in DC's will fit you.
Same for tires. Falkens and some Toyo's are notoriously undersized. And Kumho's tend to stay pretty true. While tires like BF Goodrich tend to be a little oversized. So its all about the look you want.
highvoltage1 08-13-2008, 07:50 PM I was looking at some bridgestones. They scored number 3 out of the 42 tires on tire rack in there category. I can get them for 109 a piece with the price match at discount. Plus i can get the 5zigens from discount too i just found out. They dont stock them int he store usually but can get them in like 2-3 days. I found a price for 203or208 i cant remember for the black with polished lip even cheaper from where i found them before.
