old mids on the left................................................................................................................................................. new ones on the right.
Hey man are they worth the $90? I'm ordering my 4.150 in the next day or two and I was gonna pick these ID's up off hess while he's still got them since they seem to be a great deal! I was thinking about just sticking with the RSD's active for a while and hiding the ID's from myself for a few months so I can really notice the upgrade lol...
Are they worth it though? Do they hit harder/get louder? That's the most important part for me... I CRAVE more midbass!

copied from my thread on caraudio.com...
so since i have no life i went for a drive and listened, sat in a parking lot for a little bit and listened to them pretty loudly, then drove home playing them a little more. so i probably have about 4 hours on them already even though its only day one. they sound really really good, i can even tell an increase in mid-bass already. i can't imagine what its going to be like in a week or two since everybody says they need a lengthy break in.
certain music i almost couldn't stand to listen with the rsd mids, no matter what i did i could never completely tame the mid-range and i always blamed the recording but i guess i was wrong. of course some recording just plain old suck but anyway. with these i haven't found anything yet that sounds harsh or edgy and thats with the EQ pretty much flat, and i sampled quite a bit of music on them. i definitely wouldn't call these "laid back" as they can have quite a kick to them when it comes to drums, but the mid-range is soooo buttery smooth.
really awesome mids, especially for 90 bucks!
for you kidwolf, also from my thread on caraudio.com...
the mid-bass is very good, really really punchy. and i am sure it will get even better since everybody claims they do after some break in.
they are definitely worth the 90 bucks. no regrets here.
i did shim them out with a 1/4" ring on each door. but a single 3/4" baffle should do. i don't think they will hit the windows or anything. but i tried simply taking the rsd's out and putting in the ID's as is and i guess the cut out is just slightly bigger so i made a pair of rings real quick with a jig saw just cause it was easier.

hmmmm
I was looking at some of these drivers
Have you ever head the CDTs ES line?
I currently have them in the doors.
The doors are deadend and the mid is great.

I think I could get some more out of em but im only giving them like 60-70 watts per chan for the mid and tweet.
I can feel some nasty kick say like on Lollipop. The entire song has a bass kick and I can feel it in my pants with the sub off
I cant wait to add my Rockford Power T3002. 200rms per side
anywho,
can you compare em to anything but the Phoenix Gold?
