Default 1st Gen RS 2.0 goes two-tone - what color ??

Ok. I'm getting ready to two-tone the spongebox and wanted your opinion on what color for the top half. Definately going with black but should I go with flat (more of a satin / matte), gloss or BSP ?

I have Seibon carbon fiber hood and Monarch Nilo wheels.

This is just my opinion, but it's a limited color. I wouldn't cover up that paint. It just kinda kills an RS.

If you really have to do it, go with the gloss. Or, better yet, get the top half vinyl wrapped. That way you don't have to worry about permanently effing up that paint.

yours only had 2,500 made.
go get a TCM and paint it something cool you will be much happier you did.

no I've definately made up my mind, it's getting painted and the upper half will definately be black. pretty decided on a "satin" black w/ silver pin stripe. Only thing I can't decide is what to do about my hood and mirrors. I almost want to get a plain set of mirrors without the LED turns in them to paint black, not sure.

I had a very nice clear bra put on my CF hood and now the part with the clear bra is fine but the part of the hood without the clear bra has started to yellow. =( I'm considering having the clear bra stripped and the CF hood painted as well. Either that or I will put my stock hood back on and get it painted.

Magenta ??

Basically I want it to look just like the Dropstars two-tone diecast toy but just replace the blue with my yellow.

All I need to decide is what to do about the hood.....

Yo BruenoB just my 2 cents you dont have to listen to what I say but I know what color would look tight on your box Its a color I saw at Subaru show off on a 02 or 04 Subaru wrx I thought it was a custom paint job at first but the owner told me it was a stock color I think its called Obsidian Black Pearl. Any way this metallic black color looks cool from a far but when you see it up close you will notice it's a metallic black with a light gold flake in it not to much to be a pimp car but just enough and I think it would look tight on your box and still keep the Solar Yellow RS theme on.
P.S Do what you want to do to your box for all we know you might come up with a new trend , Keep your Pimp hand Strong young man

Go black sand pearl. I went two-tone and just kind of liked keeping Scion colors. Bottom is the stock BSP color, top is silver streak mica from the '05 tC.

the only thing i would say is to decide if you want a true black or the pearl. I would do solid gloss black just because i have been disapointed with the BSP since day one cuz it always looks dirty in direct sunlight IMO.
im actually looking into respraying mine gloss black for that very reason.

I really want a satin / semi-gloss black BUT I'm reading that the finish is very hard to keep clean / maintain because if you wax it you lose the "dull" finish.

The vehicle is driven ALOT. I have 72k on it and it's a 2005. The paint takes a beating because of all the highway driving unfortunately.

So my latest thought has been a paint that is called Blitz Black by John Deere (it's actually made FOR John Deere by another company). Yes I know...it's TRACTOR PAINT !

However, lots of "hot rodders" have been using it for quite some time. It's more of a satin black I guess and is supposedly very durable and they even sell it in rattle cans so I could do touch ups if needed.

That's the main reason I'm shying away from the pearls and metallics. Chip touch up is a PITA !

Link for some info on it...http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/w...tz_Black_paint

the John Deer black is what was on DOA when I bought it. it has too much shine for me, so I redid it(needed it anyways). If you look, you will see the dull spot, that is primer, from some body work I was doing, to give you an idea of primer-v-paint.

@gothbox - is the top half another black or is the top the JDBB and the lower part is another black (chalkboard ?) . Top looks more glossy.

How does the JDBB or "satin" finish black hold up ? You don't wax it do you? How do you keep it clean ?

Do you think I could pull off JDBB or some other "satin" finish black on the top half and keep the lower half the RS2 yellow ? (figuring on a silver / grey pinstripe to seperate the two and to cover the tape edge)

I personally wouldn't go with anything that has flake in it (even as incredible as that Subi color is)

Solar Yellow is a gloss with no flake in it, I'd try to keep the same 'texture'.

I second the OBP. That's a great color.

After Subaru discontinued that color, they replaced it with Java Black Pearl (IIRC-- it has Java in the name for sure), which has more of a copper-colored metal flake in it. Not necessarily the best choice for this particular box, but in general, I think more people need to be aware of it.

Now that I think of it, Subaru has had some really nice colors available. The Impreza I had was Indigo Blue Pearl, which was really similar to the BOP, but a bit more metallic. Looks fantastic when it's shined up, despite the fact that I cannot keep a car clean to save my life thanks to an assortment of circumstances.

the top is factory BSP, and the bottom is the John Deer.

it seemed to hold up pretty good, but the car had been in a shop for a long time before I got it. I did not keep it that long. I went over it with chalkboard b/c its "flatter".
I never waxed it, just washed. I don't think the previous owner ever did either.
