As some of you may or may not have noticed, I'm new to these forums. I have an 08 tC in silver. I'm somewhat new to this whole modding thing, and I'm also tight on cash.

I was just wondering what everyone's opinion is. Would you rather have:
- All looks and no go
- All go and no looks
- Or somewhere between the two?

In my opinion, I would rather have more power and not avertise it.

if i had all the money in the world, i would be fully rebuilt w/ turbo and absolutely no body mods. but it would have WIDE rims and molded fender flares

Wouldn't it be nice if we all had money? HAH - like that will ever hapen. Yeah, I wish too. The only body mods I would get involve HIDs, a full third brake light, a new grille and halos. But modding can get expensive real fast, so I'm just gonna ride it out and see where I go.

whatever you really have in mind, your tC is your own blank canvas.

for me, my canvas is covered in carbon fiber and runs with "a gentlemens" stock 161 bhp.

Im mixing the two. Im getting all the power mods that I will need before my turbo. Basically the exhaust. I will not get a header or intake because that would be useless when the turbo will have its own. My next purchase now is a lipkit. Ive been spending 1k a month at the rate I am spending on my car lol.

I live in the fantasyland known as California, where all manner of power mods are frowned upon. So I'll tinker with the intake and the muffler, but that's about it. I'd rather it sound good and look good than go like stink and get me in trouble with Johnny Law.

I see you're from NJ. I'm not sure what part you're in, but where you are or where you go may want to be a factor. I work a lot in NYC and therefore, going to 18's or putting on body kits is not a good idea for me due to potholes, fender benders, and parallel parking.

Since my car is a daily driver and I'm broke from buying the car, so far I've only done inexpensive "show" mods. I don't plan on taking my car to the track or autocrossing, so while performance would be sweet, it's too expensive for how little I would get out of it.

Also, since it's a car I'll be driving in the winter (significant snow in northern Indiana) and through cities, I'll probably stay away from lowering it and body kits, because the lip at least would get destroyed in about a week.

Yeah, now that I think about it, there's a lot more to consider when modding it. RammsteinNicCage, I live in northern Jersey and there are a lot of potholes and tight parking spaces. About 2 weeks after I got my car, I was parking, and i neglected to use my mirrors, so as I was backing up and straightening out, I scraped the curb and now have a scar on my right rear rim (that's stupidity on my part, which has turned me away from getting aftermarket rims). Now I always use the mirrors to gauge how close I am to curbs and such.

Body kits also wouldnt be such a great idea, becuase there are a lot of parking lots and entry ramps that are at odd angles. I have stock 17''s and ride height and I've allready scraped the bottom of my front end pulling into parking lots. So springs, which I've considered, might not be the best for that or for snow clearance either.

Its really not that hard to drive dropped with the rs1 lip.. you should get that .. we got some potholes here and u just gota go around them lol...As for the whole tight parking spaces, at school i just park next to the bikes only permits and double park since some fool banged the crap outta my door earlier in the year.. O AND a trailer hitch into the back of my bumper.. haha i need to fix that...

As far as the whole go and show.. A NICE turbo would seize ur troubles..Atleast thats what im going to do !!! ;)

It's not always easy to go around potholes (craters) that take up the entire road while you're going 60 in traffic.

I did just get aftermarket 17" rims (after curbing the hell out of my stocks) and so far, so good... been extra careful. Now I'm just worried about not parking close enough to the curb and losing a side mirror. ;)

I do have TRD Springs (~1" drop) which isn't too bad. Although, I am scraped all the way around on my underbody... but most of those scrapes probably would have happened anyway from those high angled driveways.

Im like a 2 / 1 ratio.
2 power mods = 1 syle mod
I dont see the point of putting thousands of dollars into your car to still run a 15 sec 1/4 mile. Just seems like a bit of waste...... IMO
