Default Fiberglassing supplies

I need help from anybody with experience in fiberglassing. . .

1) Where is a good place to buy fleece (for a good price) to lay the first layer of resin?
2)How much resin/hardener do you think I'll need to cover the under floor compartment of the xA?
3)Do you have to resand to fiberglass over an area that has already dried, or can you just glass over it (I want to build it in 2 pieces)?

Other than that, I am set. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

TAP Plastics and Home Depot has a good assortmnent of mat and fibre. Some hardware stores also.

You will definitely need at least a gallon of resin if you plan on doing the floor and in more than one layer. If the mold you are using is smooth, then you will not need to sand it before painting. The plus to fibreglassing is you can add layers w/o any prep once the first layer is cured.

Make sure you add the right amount of hardner to the resin or it will take forever to cure.

If I knew more about what you plan to fibreglass, I could give you some more info.

You could also use Bondo to smooth things out...

For fleece a cheap way would be to use old sweatshirts, usually the bottom layers are made using the fiberglass mats used in kits first to build stronger layers

Buy extra hardener and apply liberally if the space you're working on is large and easy so that it'll harden faster, but if you too slow then find a new bucket, muhaha

ALWAYS sand each layer of fiberglass prior to applying the next! This is the weakest link and if you do not sand (80 grit or so), the layers can split apart! I have seen it done many times. Only takes minutes so why not do it right!

www.selectproducts.com carries alot of fiberglass materials for audio applications. I have quite a bit myself so I may be able to help you or anyone out that is looking for fiberglass materials.
