Default Ground wire placement?

Hi guys,

I was wondering where everyone put their amp ground wire in their trunk? I currently have it on one of the bolts that secured the factory subwoofer in but I'd rather place it somewhere else. Any suggestions?

Thanks guys!

dont have any pics but in the back right behind the seats there are those plastic pieces that pop up and there is a metal anchor under it, u have to take off the plastic piece and the board and you can see the bolt that hols the metal anchor in.

listen to rawker!!

do NOT use a stock bolt... drill a new hole into the frame and use a new bolt and tighten it VERY tight with washers on both ends and a nut

your ground is one of the most important conections!!!! you should sand all the paint down to bare metal (a wire wheel works great) then selftap screws with a star washer to the CHASSIE. never use factory bolts!!!!!!! oh and always make sure you look to see where the gas tank is. screws and gas tanks dont mix.

Not the best... but this is what I used. I took the bracket right out and used that location. Some day I might do a different spot with a self tapping one. Just haven't gotten there.

Maybe that's a project for this week...

Just like a couple others said. Get some steel wool or sand paper and sand the paint off of a small area and use a ring terminal with a self tapping screw and screw it in. You'll never have to worry about it coming loose and don't need any nuts and bolts and washers. And you only need like 1/2" - 3/4" long screw so you won't have to worry about hitting the tank.

and why is this? how would a new hole you drilled be any better than a factory hole? if it's sanded down to bare metal then why would it matter?

I realize that Crutchfield aren't the end-all, know-all car audio gods or anything... but I like to think they're fairly well respected for knowing their stuff...

i agree that they aren't the "end-all" of car audio, but i agree. i can't think of a better spot that a seat belt anchor or a shock tower mount. obviously a shock tower mount is going to be a good solid mounting point.

i just see no reason to start drilling more holes in your car. nothing wrong with using good solid existing points.

use the seat bolts! don't use the seat bolts! ehhhh, so many threads going over this and no consensus. I will probably just do the seat bolts and see how they work out... got two amps, will put one on each...
