i botched up on some of the smaller pieces on my dash and in the shift area.

mainly just the heating/ac control ****, the shift bezel(grey Rectangle) and the actual shift plate.


100 bucks to replace all three.

where are the pics? got a buddy that is going to paint his xb2 in a few days.

i wish i could get a clear temperature control know.
the stock blue and red leds or whatever are back there are bright as hell with the **** off at night.

like the paint didnt finish well even though i let it sit for 2 days and did about 8 coats, when i was putting the shift assembly back together the bezel around the shift panel scratched some of the paint of the visble front towards the engine, no way it can get all that paint off, and since it went down 8 layers of paint, getting it to look right with respraying is just not an option.

 

Sand and repaint. It's pretty simple to fix.

use paint thinner, clean, sand, repaint.

 

8 coats????? That might have been the problem, if you sprayed those coats without proper flash time in between, the paint will look like straight butt... you should only have to spray 3 coats, 4 at max.

 

paint thinner warps plastic, essentially why i had to get a new bezel, let it sit in there for a few minutes and it was slightly warped to when it was put back on around the shift assembly, it didnt sit all the way against it, the bottom left corner was raised up

 

What about plastic acetone? PaintScratch.com has it, saved my butt a few times.

i dont think you wouldve had a problem if you just put it on a towel and lighty wiped the plastic.

 

^ x2. Don't let it sit in there. Even if it does warp,it shapes back to it's original form in 24 hours. I'm doing BlckdOutTC's interior and I botched 2 pieces up the first time, just got to sand it down with 600 grit until all paint is removed, re-clean the surface, re-prep and spray the paint and clear all over again. I need to re-clear coat his, then it'll be ready to go. That's the easiest fix....or you can go buy new pieces which aren't cheap.
