Default Where to mount my GPS?

I'm looking for a good place to put it. Obviously on the windshield in the center is a standard spot and it works okay there, but the windshield in the xb is like a mile away!
Typing things in requires some serious reach and I dont exactly have short arms. It seems like the gauge set up leaves a nice big opening behind the steering wheel, but I'm hesitant to drill or cut up my dash as well as put a permanent sticky thing there.

Where have you guys put your GPS's? show pictures if you can.

What is the make/model of the GPS? I have a Proclip mount the mounts to the left of the gear shift. It holds my PDA which use to be my GPS device prior to getting a HU with GPS.

Its a garmin NUVI 255W. It has the suction cup with a pivot ball that it snaps on to.

I have a Magellan Maestro 4040. I was hesitant to drill into the dash as well, even though there is plenty of room to mount the GPS right in front of the steering wheel. I ended up mounting it on the left side, right above the vent. It's not too far to reach, and fits in pretty well.
Two points to note though, it blocks your field of view a little bit when you're turning left. The other point is that it's illegal to have something mounted to your windshield in CA, and a cop who pulled me over actually gave me grief about it.

Proclip makes a mount that you can mount on the middle console.

Can't you just unhook the GPS from the mount and enter the data, then reinastall it? I would never drill into my dash...

Sell your GPS and buy an indash stero with Navi. Prices on them are droping quite a bit lately.

I turned an empty Altoids can over, suctioned the mount to it, then pressed it into that cubby whole. Voila...the perfect GPC mount. Enjoy

The Altoids can is perfectly fit to that storage area. Just push it in there and it will stay. You'll see what I'm talking about when you try it.
