i like the style of the Xb though and being as on a budget with college im forced to sell my dsm and the xb is right in my range. i just want to know is this a car that will put me at 150hp max or something that can get me a 250hp+?

If you want power, don't buy an xB (108hp Stock) :!: You would have to do a lot of work to get 150-200hp. I think with a Turbo and NOS you would be lucky to hit 200hp.

you are looking at the wrong car if you want 150-200 hp.

No, they are great little cars, i drive mine 80-90 most of the time and it doesn't take long to get to that speed BUT they won't put up any kind of jaw-dropping numbers. If you're trying to compete in the numbers game, the xB won't do it without a lot of $$$ poured in, which it sounds like you're trying to get away from. If you want a solid ride then it's the right car.

LOL...that's great

I have no compaints with my xB's speed....it's not going to blow the doors off anything, and it will be nowhere near your eclipse. In order to put enough boost through an xB motor to get 150-200hp you'll have to spend a ton of $$$ tweaking up your internals, otherwise you'll blow your motor.

If you want speed, you'll have to look at a tC. If you want a car that's going to get 30+mpg and look cool doing it, then go with an xB.

well heres where im going with. my dsm is done for and i just recieved a sponsorship from sport compact car for $12k dollars and they are allowing me to transfer this over to the scion so...alot of the money is going towards style but i want to know if there ARE mods out there even though costing alot will put me into high speeds? i do get 65% off from over 300 companies so...im hoping to be one of the first to represent the xb's in Sport Compact Magazine

the tC would be a great start for a project if you want speed, but not the xB

yeah man, the xb is no pocket rocket - it pretty weak and it feels awkard trying
to go really fast in it........ I bought mine for the winter, deliveries and to advertise
my business - in the spring/summer I have the s2000 - that gives me
enough speed to mess with most cars on the road!

With an aftermarket turbo or supercharger (around $3000), you'll be maxed out @ 150HP. Sorry Bro.

I believe that there is a "Power Hungry" section to this site, if you care to research it.

The xB is a great ride for the $$$ & I recommend it to anyone who will listen, but a fire breathin' speed demon, it is not.

Great around town car, but the only a$$ you'll be haulin' is your own. 8)

Ummm I had a 95 GSX that ran times about that fast and nobody threw money at me! I have plenty of receipts from Bushur, Extreme, Level 10 to prove it. Unless your family......

for 12k couldn't you just strap a rocket on the back and kick on the afterburners... i figure that'll make it go around 250hp. oh wait it's a scion xb. 250plus hp?

The xBs racing potential is in its handling, not in its Speed. It can be a decent Road Course racer, but not a dragster.

Easy formula to get xb into 12's .

1. Remove backseat.
2. Install custom engine cradle and fabricate driveshafts/suspension in rear of car.
3. Install mr2 turbo motor and tranny, modify heavily.
4....profit.

You could maybe get into the 12's with a stock motor, once or twice until it blew up. Although anythign is possible if you installed all forged internals with about a 7.5/1 compression ratio, a humongous turbo, N20 sytem and a taller tranny or jsut huge tires, it might be possible but a mid engined RWD xb woudl be much sweeter and probably cheaper in the end.

Yeah, and don't listen to those guys saying that if you want speed, go with the tC. That thing may look sporty, but its not much faster and almost everything on the road will totally smoke it. Let's face it - the entire line of Scions are for show, not go...

You want cheap AND fast? Scion is not it. That title belongs to the Dodge SRT-4.

You want cheap AND cool? Scion baby!!!

actually it not that serious - I have launched my car @ 7krpm's and
its the best - the car goes right into VTEC and launches perfect.
If you do it a few times its not harmful - do it everyday and you'll
need a new: clutch, tires, dif, and transmission...

It puts more strain on your differential then your axles..... I've read
multiple posts about this stuff in the S2000 forum and my only replacement
so far was a stage 2 clutch..........

every car treats you the way you treat it.............

check your papers again... its not SCC mag... its sport compact pro or something like that. just be careful, i've heard of several horror stories with that 'sponsorship'. its pretty much just like getting a membership at costco, sams, bjs, etc. search some other forums and you'll be able to dig up some info.
