Has anyone changed the bulbs in your front parking lights? A few nights ago, I changed my headlights to Sylvania SilverStars (9003ST). Now, the little parking lights look yellow next to the new headlights. I knew the SilverStars where whiter, but wow! Anyhow, from what I can gather, the bulb in the parking light is a simple 5watt wedge-type bulb (168/194/W5W). I looked on-line and lots of places sell "Super bright LED" versions of this bulb. Has anyone tried any of these? How'd they look? Should I get "Hyper-White" or "Blue-White"?

I changed mine out, its pretty much the same exact bulb thats in the license plate lights, the oven, ect. LED style lights dont look right to me there because the 120 degree bulbs dont use any of the reflector but shine just through the little hole in the glare reducer thingy, Go to walmart and look for some of those "Natural Glass" bulbs, its like $5 for the 2 and they work great, not yellowish at all

Hmmm...I was in Wal-Mart last night but I don't remember seeing anything that said "Natural Glass". They may have been there, but I missed them. I was wondering about the fact that an LED is more directional. I'm glad you mentioned that. If my Wal-Mart doesn't have the ones you mentioned, I'll have to look for a "High output" regular bulb....not an LED. Thanks for the response.

I just called a local performance shop and ordered a set of PIAA Xtreme White #168 wedge bulbs. They'll be in tomorrow. They aren't LEDs, so I shouldn't have that directional problem. These are what I ordered:

they are a _____. basically u should find someone with small hands or remove the headlight. it will be alot easier if you do one of the above . here u are going to want the bulb named "matrix" it has side facing leds causing there to be alot more reflection compared to a regular led replacement. these will make you alot happier.

How difficult was it to change the bulbs?I assume you mean the headlight bulbs...right? It wasn't too bad. The driver's side is the hardest because there is a fuse box in the way and you have very limited room to work. Do that side first. It makes the passanger side a breeze. Anyhow, I just followed the directions in the owner's manual.
-disconect the plug on the back of the bulb.
-pull of the rubber seal ring (wiggle it to get it loose).
-squeeze the little spring clip thingy together so that it flops down away from the bulb (you'll see what I mean when you do it)
-remove old bulb.
-install new bulb and reverse above procedure.
Be very careful not to bang or drop the bulbs (especially the new ones)
and NEVER touch the glass of these bulbes with bare skin. The oils from your skin will create a hot spot and weaken the bulb. I wore latex gloves to do it. It really isn't hard at all. No tools required.
*Edit- LOL...I just realized you probably meant the parking light bulb!

I meant the parking bulbs.. I've installed Eurodezign bulbs already and they are a pain to get to indeed.. I was curious if getting to the parking bulbs was any different or as difficult?

Yeah, sorry....I just realized you meant the parking light bulb. I pulled mine out last night to check what type of bulb it was. I didn't think it was too hard. You need a work light to see what you're doing, but you just reach in as best you can and turn 1/4 turn. The plug and bulb will come right out.

Obviously the parking light is next to the head lights, but are there any cables to disconnect, or protective donut to remove? Where is it located in relation to the head light donut? I'm at work right now, so can't run out to my car and check.

I'm at work right now, so can't run out to my car and check. The parking light is down on the inside corner of the headlight assembly. Picture your headlights as eyes on a face. The parking lights are where your tear ducts are...right next to your nose. They are easier to get to than the headlight bulb. No rubber gaskets except one that's fixed to the plug (you don't have to remove it seperatley). You don't even disconnect any wires. All you do is grab the back of the plug with the wires still attached and turn. The plug and bulb will come free. You just pull the bulb straight out of the plug. Replace it, and put it all back.

they are LED bulbs with a 120 viewing angle, they wont look very good at all, the glare reducer will block them almost completly, I've tried. on the plus side those will fit in your Tag light as well.

I changed mine to led bulbs.... it looks much brighter... the output colour is a bluish white... it's better than the ordinary white bulbs... tried 4 kind of bulbs and think led does look a lot better than the whole lot....ordinary white bulbs tend to look bit of yellowish white....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7942014299&category=33713They may look fine, but like was already mentioned, those LEDs are only going to shine straight out of the glare limiter cone thingy. They really wont be putting any light back on the reflector at all. I guess the only way to know is give 'em a try. I'm VERY happy with the results I got from the PIAA Extreme White bulbs (they aren't an LED).
Thread from the dead. Matt_a or any xA owner for that matter with different front parking light bulbs installed, think you can post pics with them on? I'm not sure if I wanna put in ultra whites in the parking lights or perhaps something with a little more blue.

Are the 04-05 parking lights the same as the 06 parking lights?
Well, yes and no. The 04-05 parking lights are 194 wedge bulbs and 06 is a 2825 wedge bulb. They are exactly the same in appearance and are interchangeable. The difference between the two is that the 194 bulb runs at 3 watts and the 2825 bulb runs at 5 watts, this makes the 2825 bulb brighter. If you want to put 194 bulb in your 06(like I have) thats ok, it just won't be as bright. You can read more about the differences here:
http://www.boss302.com/cluster.htm
Also, if you want to know what all the other bulbs are in the 06 xA, look here:

Well, after a month of waiting, my LEDs are here...only thing is that now my parking lights are a lot more blue than my sylvania white lights. wtf. I got the WLED x5-LED Wide Angle LED bulb and it's marked as "Cool White". I don't remember ever having to choose either "Cool white" or "Warm White" but apparently you now have the choice according to superbrightleds.com. I'm thinking they barely put this new type of white up on their website and sent me either of the whites. The comparison chart shows the cool white leds being 8000k and the warm white leds being 3300k. If i remember correctly the only choice of white i had was ultra white. Did I get sent the wrong type of white or what? Cuz it doesn't match my headlights. Much more blue. To those who got these leds for their parking lights, what type of white did you guys get and do you remember ever having to choose between "Cool white" or "Warm white"?

I bought them and you are correct they are more blue than white. When I bought mine last month I had the choice of white or OEM Amber. The parking lights are more blue than my headlights but I actually like it that way.
