Default Car Registration (State)

Hello-

Not sure how other states work, But im in IL. I transferred my plates from my old car to the tC. Now the dealer registers my car as I pay them for the transfer, title, etc. Will my car registration come in the mail auto.? I forgot to ask dealer how that works. B/c currently if i get pulled over i have no proof of registration. How long does that take to receive?

Thanks!
April

I'm in IL. I beleive if you transfer you'll get it in the mail.

I ordered new plates. Most of the time then you pick up at the dealer.

Mine were sent to my house because I ordered Veteran plates.

Should take 2-4 weeks. Don't sweat it. Your temporary reg. and plate are good for at lot longer than that.

Well, if you still have your bill of sale, that should work fine if you happen to get pulled over..

It is supposed to take less than a month for your registration to come in. With your insurance, you have 30 days to purchase insurance on your car. After that you have to have some sort of proof.
