ok i continued reading other posts from other scion boards the 12.9 hp gain was due to just a different dyno and prob a bad initial run when it was stock, i duno. the wr will yeild prob 6-10 hp with the hood open. i wonder when they gona make a cold air box for it. :D

Why is that even a question. K&N has a reputation. Weapon-R doesn't.

does that matter, its just a name. Weapon r might be a better intake but i should choose k&n because of the name

intakes alone are more of a cosmetic upgrade than a big change in performance.

i have a drop-in (TRD) with the charcoal filter removed, and it sounds great.

yea true 6 to 8 rwh isnt much but intake, headers, cat back, corrected ecu chip might give the tc 20-25 rwhp not bad. ill be much happier with 185 hp than 160

Are you driving backwards? rwhp = rear wheel hp ;)

P.S. LoLz at walmart vs. tiffany's comment - so true.

Out of 4 different intakes I had on my Matrix Injen was made the worst in terms of fitment, filter, overall desing. I was really impressed with the K&N - they don't try to cheap out on things. AEM was even designed better than Injen and had a bigger filter.

You get what appeals to you. WR is making a cold air box. And what do you mean WR has no reputation? Thay have been around just as long and people are just as happy with their products.

That's wierd, the INJEN RD CAI fit perfectly fine on my Xr. No troubles what so ever. I didn't even have to take the bumper cover off.

I am not saying that it did not fit - it did, but if you compare it to the way TRD intake fit - it's a completely different story. Plus when I got the SC, Injen had to go, while TRD still fit perfectly. And the TRD intake's filter was 2x the size of Injen's.

Yup, the TRD SC is on the next for nerxt year, or the year after mod for the Xr.

Just because the company is well known doesnt atomatically mean its a better product... if that was true then you would never of gotten a scion.

Just got the K&N tonight. I installed it in about 30min.

Sounds great and looks even better. The fitment is pretty perfect.
Power wise??? Maybe it needs to break in, not sure. I reset my ECU and everything.

It sure sounds good. :D

Right... Scion is not a company - it's a brand. The company that makes Scions has a good enough reputation.

tckurt: You are right and wrong. The first part you said is right. Kia is a well known brand, and they make absolute ____e. You're wrong about getting a Scion, and this is where I agree with zoltiz...as you know TOYOTA makes Scion, and they are a well known brand, but they are a reputable company. Maybe the right thing to say would be "Just because the company is well known doesn't automatically mean it's a better product...one of the reasons you got a Scion was because it's made by Toyota and they are known for reliable and high quality transportation."
