PM me if you are interested! Racersky 09-27-2010, 07:46 AM Thiis past week I manage to take a few shots at a Rally against Deportation. My friend who is also my neighbor was picked up and being detained for deportation. It was really hard for me to take pictures while walking through the crowd getting close to the center. All I felt while looking through the viewfinder was everyone's emotions which then led me to tear up myself. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4109/5019721763_76f6e73e0d_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4103/5020330860_bbf4ddfe4b_z.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4075/5019721821_ec4e6cb918_z.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4111/5019721853_8fb9a7f8d5_z.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4112/5020330882_ce08900fac_z.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4112/5022518431_799a92984f_z.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4107/5020330908_d387028daa_z.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4148/5022518443_2e6418f396_z.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4150/5023127940_589f3041f8_z.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4124/5022683937_79c929ebb0_z.jpg snowromance 09-27-2010, 04:58 PM as sad as it is to see people hurt, legal citizenship is necessary for good and proper order in our country. i hope these people can grow to understand that and follow through so that they don't have to suffer pain like this. nobody likes to see anyone sad :-( DonNguyen 09-27-2010, 05:27 PM as sad as it is to see people hurt, legal citizenship is necessary for good and proper order in our country. i hope these people can grow to understand that and follow through so that they don't have to suffer pain like this. nobody likes to see anyone sad :-( well said...i was gonna chime in but it wouldn't have come out as nice NYNCTC 09-27-2010, 06:54 PM same. well said snow. Sell me the D90 so you can upgrade? Jon 09-30-2010, 01:14 AM It'll be for sale as soon as I get my D7000. snowromance 09-30-2010, 03:11 AM is D7000 really worth the upgrade?? just curious why you're set on this. i noticed the higher resolution, but didn't look into it anymore. what is your reasoning for the upgrade jon? bdis3 09-30-2010, 03:37 AM Well I cant speak for Jon, but my friend is looking to upgrade to a D90 right now. But he decided to wait for the 3000 because of higher MP, more FPS (does a lot of sports stuff) And for the HD video the camera can autofocus when you zoom in and out. Plus 2 SD card slots and 39 AF points. snowromance 09-30-2010, 05:20 AM so i decided to just do a bit of research on it... WOW. i must say i'm very impressed. mp increased, iso performance got better, HD video got better (finally constant AF), twin SD slots, saved user definable settings, 39 AF points... pretty awesome for folks not looking to go FF. JaN_MiChAeL_07 09-30-2010, 09:08 AM what kind of camera bag? I'm looking to get one soon. Luc1f3r 09-30-2010, 09:57 AM i picked up the tamrac expedition 5 2days ago. its pretty nice. Jon 09-30-2010, 11:42 AM so i decided to just do a bit of research on it... WOW. i must say i'm very impressed. mp increased, iso performance got better, HD video got better (finally constant AF), twin SD slots, saved user definable settings, 39 AF points... pretty awesome for folks not looking to go FF. It's also weather sealed with a magnesium alloy frame. Don't get me wrong I love my D90, but this camera has everything I wish the D90 had. It also has the ability to mount and meter with AI/S lenses which is a plus. Here's a good review if you haven't seen it already: http://blog.chasejarvis.com/blog/2010/09/nikon-d7000/ what kind of camera bag? I'm looking to get one soon. It's a Ogio Atiba Mini. I have a Ogio backpack as well for school and it's great so when I saw this camera bag I had to get it. It blows my old Lowepro bag out of the water. juzlookzfazt 09-30-2010, 12:24 PM I'll try to refrain from commenting on illegal immigration ..as it will not come out sympathetic ..at all lol. Big_Bird 09-30-2010, 05:48 PM It's a Ogio Atiba Mini. I have a Ogio backpack as well for school and it's great so when I saw this camera bag I had to get it. It blows my old Lowepro bag out of the water. I had an Ogio backpack and it was dismal, terrible ergonomics. But my Ogio golf bag is awesome. That Ogio Atiba Mini has no spot for a tripod. Aside from that, it looks like a great bag to me. Jon 09-30-2010, 05:50 PM Mine has a strap on the side you could put a tripod in. Jon 09-30-2010, 06:51 PM Took this a couple hours ago on campus. To be completely honest, I don't think they topped the 1st gen. This car is more of a side step. Ace83 10-03-2010, 03:00 AM the front and sides i can imagine has a good remedy by changing bumper or lip kits but the rear i cant imagine anything can be done to it.. the tails and the hatch i just cant stand it, i dont even know why they a have to make a new uglier one lol Jasper Ash 10-03-2010, 07:24 AM I reallllyyy want a D7000 now. Racersky 10-03-2010, 07:25 AM Looks like a XD front behind lol Jon 10-03-2010, 11:36 AM I reallllyyy want a D7000 now. Can anyone speculate how low the price will be at a cheaper retailer once released? Wait until after Christmas. Because right now you're going to pay MSRP. I read on Nikon Cafe that the day Nikon released it, all the pre-orders made it shoot up to the #1 most popular DSLR on Amazon. bdis3 10-03-2010, 12:39 PM Carbon, awesome shot of carcillo. The stache is back. Jasper Ash 10-03-2010, 04:44 PM Jon, I'm PMing you about the D90. I have a thousand questions about it now but one or two I'd like to ask you since you use one daily... bdis3 10-03-2010, 06:27 PM http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4154/5047660603_7cf0c82b60_b.jpg Jasper Ash 10-03-2010, 10:32 PM ^ I can't figure out what that is lol.. EDIT: Oh.. peeped the flickr. I got it now. Anyone want to suggest what I should upgrade to from the D40? I'd like to stay under $1000 and also get some nice HD video recording. I'm currently thinking about the D3100 (even though it has no remote feature), the D5000, the D90, and maybe even picking up the Canon 500D. Suggestions appreciated. :D bdis3 10-03-2010, 11:01 PM D7000 if your going to be able to find one. Or as soon as the D7000 comes out grab a cheap D90. I upgraded from the D40 to the D90 and never regretted it. Only thing I wish the D90 has was continuous AF for video. But Its not worth upgrading to the D7000 for it. And yeah, the pictures above is the valvetrain from a big block. Huge stainless valves, Double/honeycomb valve springs. 454 bored to a 496. Fairly large cam. Going into a 72 Chevelle. Should be running next weekend. Ace83 10-03-2010, 11:19 PM ^ more pics on your new project? bdis3 10-03-2010, 11:21 PM Its not mine. Which one would you get? trdscion 10-04-2010, 08:12 PM ^ what body are you using currently? breauxseph 10-04-2010, 08:14 PM a 30d. I was initially just going to get the 7d, but when I thought about it I figured that the 16-35 would be a better upgrade. NYNCTC 10-05-2010, 12:20 AM better question for you, video + better all around feature or UWA with amazing IQ? Also, would you keep the 30D? If not, then you could conceivably get the 7D and then sell the 30D and get a Sig 10-20 or a Tokina 12-24 or a Tamaron 17-50... breauxseph 10-05-2010, 12:25 AM you basically just listed everything that's been running through my head. haha. I love the idea of having video, but I'm not sure if I'd use it very much. But, then again I hate how I can only enlarge a picture up to a certain point before it gets super grainy with my 30d. Also, I think if I pick up a 10-20 or a 17-55 then I'll still want the 16-35 in the end. So much to contemplate. haha NYNCTC 10-05-2010, 12:31 AM If were you (and I will be in a few weeks minus the 16-35 but 7D vs 60D) I would do the 7D and save up for a different lens or save up again for a 16-35. breauxseph 10-05-2010, 02:57 AM That seems like the way I'm leaning right now. Get the 7d now and save up again for the 16-35. that would be my ideal set up right now, however that's a lot of dough for me. FSUnoles 10-05-2010, 03:16 AM http://27.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_l9sh8aoiTo1qzu186o1_500.jpg snowromance 10-05-2010, 04:17 AM Army Airborne School http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4128/5053352858_aee073c991_z.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4107/5052759599_9bee63f628_z.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4147/5053361000_dd6fbfa6d9_z.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4091/5053370692_5ba1d3900e_z.jpg tCs_are_life717 10-05-2010, 05:09 AM ^^ dude, those pics are sick MysTiKchRis 10-05-2010, 05:46 PM Hey i got a Canon 17-55 im trying to sell. i wanna get a 24-70. need me some more L glass! lol trdscion 10-05-2010, 10:10 PM the 7D is still not FF but the 16-35mm is probably one of my favorite lens', but if you're not going to use video I would say 50D over the "new" plastic bodied 60D. If you go with a cropped body like a 50d or 7D the 10-22mm would accomplish about the same as a 16-35mm would on a FF body. MysTiKchRis 10-05-2010, 10:56 PM 16-35! Having an expensive camera doesn't make your pictures any better. it just makes life a lil easier. breauxseph 10-05-2010, 11:59 PM That's exactly what I was thinking, but I'm getting mixed opinions everywhere. Looks like I'll have to go with my gut, too bad my gut is split too. haha Jon 10-06-2010, 12:23 AM You may want to have a doctor look at that. trdscion 10-06-2010, 03:13 AM That's what I would say, get a decent body (what's with in your budget) and spend money on fast glass. Not everyone needs a MKII, even though that might be my next upgrade but also looking at a 50D or 7D. MysTiKchRis 10-06-2010, 06:03 AM Used 3 speedlights. one at the front bumper and, one at the door other at the 1/4 panel to light up the the shaded side of the car. and lots of Photoshop. breauxseph 10-06-2010, 02:33 PM Thanks for all the input guys. I still haven't really decided but I'm leaning toward the 7d and picking up the 10-22 as well. MysTiKchRis 10-06-2010, 05:00 PM Sigma 10-20mm 3.5 is not a bad consideration. its cheaper and its f3.5 throughout the whole range. Image quality is the same. Jasper Ash 10-06-2010, 09:51 PM Have to share my excitement. My D90 arrived today and I'm amazed at how this camera is just... better than my old D40. MysTiKchRis 10-08-2010, 06:51 PM ...? Ive use it before. its not worth it. the zoom range between 11 and 16 is so little. 2.8 on a ultrawide u can live with out. most of the time i leave my apature above 5 on my 10-22 so my dof is wider. Sigma 10-20 f3.5 man! its a good walk around lens! breauxseph 10-08-2010, 07:01 PM That's what I though about before but from reading on POTN, people like the 11-16 more than the sigma. Here are some images taken with the Tamron 90mm, the night it died: #1 http://www.gplimages.com/Events/Concerts/Soa-at-Crazy-Frogs-Saloon-in/2010-AUGUST-13-SOA-CRAZY-FROGS/969577953_7kVZt-L.jpg (http://www.gplimages.com/Events/Concerts/Soa-at-Crazy-Frogs-Saloon-in/13337514_Sxyf2#969577953_7kVZt-A-LB) #2 http://www.gplimages.com/Events/Concerts/Soa-at-Crazy-Frogs-Saloon-in/2010-AUGUST-13-SOA-CRAZY-FROGS/969580907_QGqEr-L.jpg (http://www.gplimages.com/Events/Concerts/Soa-at-Crazy-Frogs-Saloon-in/13337514_Sxyf2#969580907_QGqEr-A-LB) #3 http://www.gplimages.com/Events/Concerts/Soa-at-Crazy-Frogs-Saloon-in/2010-AUGUST-13-SOA-CRAZY-FROGS/969581242_GLoa8-L.jpg (http://www.gplimages.com/Events/Concerts/Soa-at-Crazy-Frogs-Saloon-in/13337514_Sxyf2#969581242_GLoa8-A-LB) Here's some taken with the Sigma 105mm 2.8 (with or without ext. tubes): #4 http://www.gplimages.com/Nature/macro/Frog-Macro/003-DSC9754-105-mm-Garret/1059287477_3pmgS-L.jpg (http://www.gplimages.com/Nature/macro/Frog-Macro/14295006_Ui87j#1059287477_3pmgS-A-LB) #5 http://www.gplimages.com/Nature/macro/Frog-Macro/004-DSC9755-105-mm-Garret/1059287679_kepoA-L.jpg (http://www.gplimages.com/Nature/macro/Frog-Macro/14295006_Ui87j#1059287679_kepoA-A-LB) #6 http://www.gplimages.com/Nature/macro/Frog-Macro/DSC9390/1057606681_urJko-L-1.jpg (http://www.gplimages.com/Nature/macro/Frog-Macro/14295006_Ui87j#1057606681_urJko-A-LB) Here are some samples from the Bugma 150mm 2.8 (with or without ext tubes): #7 http://www.gplimages.com/Nature/macro/dragonfly-macro/C2010-Garret-Laborde-all/1063621809_rsgeX-L.jpg (http://www.gplimages.com/Nature/macro/dragonfly-macro/13464381_wcUAo#1063621809_rsgeX-A-LB) #8 http://www.gplimages.com/Nature/macro/dragonfly-macro/C2010-Garret-Laborde-all/1063623354_vwQUb-L.jpg (http://www.gplimages.com/Nature/macro/dragonfly-macro/13464381_wcUAo#1063623354_vwQUb-A-LB) #9 http://www.gplimages.com/Nature/macro/dragonfly-macro/C2010-Garret-Laborde-all/1063624844_VN4nc-L.jpg (http://www.gplimages.com/Nature/macro/dragonfly-macro/13464381_wcUAo#1063624844_VN4nc-A-LB) Jasper Ash 10-27-2010, 04:38 AM Really like number 8 ^ I'm getting better at car photography, I think. I'm finally getting comfortable with my D90. My skillsss are starting to show. :p I've been eyeballing that location for months. I drive past it on the way to work everyday. I think it's bum territory or some black magic spot. We ended up finding a pile of bones... But anyway, I took these as I was waiting for the subject. I did a shoot for this local guy with a really nice, sorta stanced G35. I'll get those up later.
