Default Where can I find an exhaust gasket????

I replaced my stock axle back exhaust with a Borla. My car now idles like ****. When I took the stock exhaust off there was no gasket and the directions for the Borla said to use the existing gasket. What does the gasket look like and where can I get one? Besides the dealer who wants $37.00.....Thanks......

There is no gasket between the midpipe and axle-back.

Exactly......when I took it off there was no gasket. But when I called the dealer they said there is a gasket. Would like to see a pic of this.

I sold my stock axle back so I can't look but don't recall seeing one on there.

I never had it on my 05 with my TRD axle back, and never had it on my 08 with my TRD axle back. Never had any idling issues either.

I had one on my tC. I think you might be able to get one from the dealer.

maybe it fell off during installation? who installed it?

maybe its just me, but why would replacing the axleback, even with an exhaust leak, cause crappy idle? All signs point to something else from axleback.

What I was told was without the gasket on it's causing the car to run rich......which it is running rich cuz the inside of my exhaust tips always has a coating of black all inside it.....and if the cars running rich it will cause it to idle low.

it's a ring that goes around the mid-pipe's pipe. it looks similar to this

it is what mates with the axleback

you can see it on this aftermarket tsudo

upper right pic... the donut gasket is on it.. see? if you don't have that on your stock midpipe.. then whoever installed it, lost the thing... at which then you gotta yell at whoever installed your exhaust.

Default BAD IDLE

Hi,

The part number of the gasket is 17451-28020 and it retails for $34.95. It really sounds like you have a another problem, possibly a leak somewhere else in the system.

A small exhaust leak that far back will NOT make the car run rich. I ran with an open mid-pipe (no axle-back at all) for 2 months, and I didn't have ANY idling issue. It idled perfect bone stock, perfect with the TRD, perfect with no axle-back, and perfect with my 3" PTuning.

Very much the truth. The axleback is far to back of any sensors to cause any problem. The nearest O2 which would change your cars "tune" is at the header. The s-pipe O2 is used to check cat. efficiency. Your problem runs else where, not this simple gasket. (which you can pick up at any parts store).

P.s. 95% of cars will develop a blackened tip over the course of the car, its completely normal.

Ok......then any clue as to what may be causing the problem.......sometimes it idles so low that it stalls...and sometimes it idles just fine.

you didnt reset the ECU.

unplug the neg battery cable, let it sit for a while to drain any remaining charge. Then reconnect the cable and start your car up and let it sit there and idle for 10 minutes straight, dont rev it or anything. Drive it around gently for the first few miles and you should be good to go.
