I have a Competition Clutch Stage 4.

I've been N/A with this clutch for a little over a thousand miles.. the clutch is fine for daily driving. It just takes a little getting used to.

The reason I went with a Stage 4 is because I'll be boosted soon. If you want to stay N/A, a Stage 2 should be more than enough I would think.

B_Real45 thanks man for coming in. I appreciate the info.

I do welcome everyone's response whether you use Competition Clutch or not. HOWEVER, I do not want this to be come an argument thread. Please just let me know what you use and why.

Thank you!

i have a clutchmaster stage 3 clutch. i had it installed with a lightweight flywheel, trd lsd, and ingalls SS clutchline. it feels alot like the stock clutch cept when you hold it down for a while, like at an intersection, you really feel it pressing into your foot ready to spring out. right now i'm supercharged, but i had it when it was n/a, and i might go turbo, and it is good up to over 300 whp.

i've also driven a supercharged tc with the trd clutch. it requires alot more effort and has a really sort of neat high effort feel to it, but it doesn't hold alot of power for that much money.

There's a TC here that has a built motor and pushing 400+whp on the CM Stage 3.. It'll hold more than 300whp.

So you went segmented Kevlar. I personally like that material. I have used it in the past with FWD cars and found it's really nice daily driving material. How does it do under high stress? Hard shifting...basically being nasty as hell to it....how does it hold up? Any fade on the engagement? We have this material and it's available for you guys, however we've been very picky about who gets it simply because most people don't pay attention to the break in. It's a shame really, it's a DAMN NICE material for 350 and down whp. If you're responsible about it that material can make you very happy.

I've heard that about the TRD clutch as well. I was unsure of what it was good to though. Seems to me less than 300whp. It seems to be popular though.

Thanks for coming in man. I appreciate it.

Im turbocharged:
I have an ACT street/strip clutch. Its great for someone who drives the car everyday and who doesnt wanna deal with hard / slamming shifts... compared to a 4 or 6 puck clutch. The feel is pretty close to stock and wont wear down as quick as a racing clutch. Power handling is decent: 390 ft/lb

Ok, what's the plate load of your pressure plate? Do you know? If you could find out that would be great. Thank you very much. How's the pedal effort? Ok? I agree that most people would be pleased to death to be able to lay down 400whp on a organic street disc lol. How many miles/how long have you had it?

Thanks for replying man.

The max load is 390ft/lb.... compared to the 4,5,6 puck plates @ 499 ft/lb

The clutch pedal is a little bit harder to press down, but its not overly tight. The pressure needed to depress it is more than stock, but it grabs pretty close to stock. Which gives it a much nicer / easier drive. Ive had it and a 9lb flywheel for about 7k miles and everything is butter,

Ok, so it's a fairly standard performance plate. I'm glad you're happy with it. I like to hear that you're getting good results out of that combo. Thank you for letting me know about that.

well, i didn't pick it because of those features, i just got it because i had plans for boosting, and it was for sale in a sponsored sale on this forum. holds up reall well, puts down all the power the supercharger can throw at it, but i don't beat on my car much, usually just some aggressive merging with traffic, and autocross when i can.

some days when i have alot of stop and go traffic and bumper to bumper requiring frequent gear changes, i start to wonder if it is getting heat soaked and fading or if my leg is just getting tired and sloppy with the pedal control. probably alittle of both.

Only issue I don't like with my clutch is that after it's hot from stop n' go or just a long highway ride, I can hear the throw-out bearing at a stop. It'll go away if I hold the pedal down though.

Do you rest your foot on the clutch pedal? That also could be a little of an adjustment needed issue.

Never - I always rest my foot on foot rest to the left. My feet never even hover over the pedal.

I only notice the rattle when it's hot.

So it sounds like a metalurgy problem (expanding and contracting with heat). I'll make sure R & D knows about that. Thank you for the heads up.

NP - and just a note - I've heard this on other clutches before. I remember my friend's GSR had a Stage 4 and his did the same.. although a bit more frequent than mine.

stage 4 here, after 2 days of driving I couldnt tell the difference when it comes to the pedal.. i guess different brands have different characteristics.. i noticed it chatters on slow acceleration at certain pedal deepness as you release more and give more gas it goes away.. after a week of getting used to it, i barely get any of those.. i guess it more of getting used to it, once you adjust your clutching habits stage 4 aint that bad.. but a quick release will give you hard clamp lol
