I noticed that whenever i come to a stop (stop sign for example) and then take off, my brake light comes on for a few seconds. does anyone know why it does this?

 

how many miles are on the car? you may need brakes. the light indicates your brake fluid is low. but DON'T TOP OFF THE BRAKE FLUID. check the front pads and see if their low then throw some pads and rotors on it.

 

x2 you brakes are probably wornout and need new pads. I have the same issue. When i take off in 1st and mid way through 2nd, the light comes on. Reviewing the fluid will show that your somewhat low, but its the pads that are warn. Check them out and replace as neccessary.
