superjeer 12-17-2004, 07:43 PM the vents pretty cool, but the hood looks small. big gaps on the right and not enough over hang in front? Did you wash it with hot water? dry clean only!
mikochu 12-17-2004, 07:54 PM the vents pretty cool, but the hood looks small. big gaps on the right and not enough over hang in front? Did you wash it with hot water? dry clean only!
Yeah, I like the vent and the lip...but like jeer said, there seems to be gap.
DJ_X_Trodinaire 12-17-2004, 07:56 PM i like it alot
fluxmr2spyder 12-17-2004, 08:04 PM not bad at all
ThunderGod 12-17-2004, 08:10 PM the vents pretty cool, but the hood looks small. big gaps on the right and not enough over hang in front? Did you wash it with hot water? dry clean only!
yeah, i notice that myself too. the gaps on each sides seems to be the same as oem, except for the front. the hood latch itself might need to be adj. (lower), & in doing that i hope that will fill that gap.
can the hood latches be adjustable? if not, i might have to mod my latches. any input?
thanks guys
scioninla 12-17-2004, 08:38 PM Looks nice...like it a lot.
Looks like the hood from VIS.
superjeer 12-17-2004, 08:46 PM yeah, are the seems on either side towards the front a little high? They look like they might be, in which case you should be able to adjust the latch down.
ThunderGod 12-17-2004, 09:10 PM Looks like the hood from VIS.
YES, we have a winner! :D
ThunderGod 12-17-2004, 09:21 PM yeah, are the seems on either side towards the front a little high? They look like they might be, in which case you should be able to adjust the latch down.
yes they are.
whats happening here is, the hook on the cf hood is bottom'ed out, when it sits on the latch mechanisim.
now..by looking at the latch itself, it dose'nt look like i can adj. the latch.
i might have to grind :x the latch so the hook can sit flush.
or...i might need to get the hood pins.
any input of your mod expertise is much appreciated :D
B2FiNiTY 12-17-2004, 09:32 PM too much going on there with the car.
showpaojoe 12-17-2004, 10:06 PM Looks great man, always loved the other one off mods you did. you goin to the Scinergy party?
ThunderGod 12-17-2004, 10:28 PM i better check the date
i was thinking of maybe a CF lip of the lip that i have now.
but then again...i don't want to be like the next one on the block. ya know what i mean.
i just don't wanna go all CF on my bX. :D
now that i said that, wheres the Hatch?
oh ya. at night when i have the engine bay all lit up in RED, you can see a FIRE through the hood scoop. kewl!!
dskize1 12-17-2004, 11:56 PM heeyyy i know that scoop/xB. it is a sweet looking hood. seen it last night. it looks sweet with the engine bay lights.
looks good, any pics from farthere away?
ThunderGod 12-18-2004, 03:54 AM looks good, any pics from farthere away?
i'll put some more pics up tommorow, where we can see the whole bX.
i was so stoked with the hood that, i forgot to take other pics of the whole package
more to come 8)
Hydrothetek 12-18-2004, 05:10 AM i got the same hood on my lava and by lookin at the pics it seems like you got the same gaps i got when i put it mine on. im wondering if you had any trouble puttin yours on and if you had play on it when its closed (meaning you can push it up and down when its closed but if you adjust the rubber knobs the hood rests on its fine but with a gap in front)
ThunderGod 12-18-2004, 05:23 AM i got the same hood on my lava and by lookin at the pics it seems like you got the same gaps i got when i put it mine on. im wondering if you had any trouble puttin yours on and if you had play on it when its closed (meaning you can push it up and down when its closed but if you adjust the rubber knobs the hood rests on its fine but with a gap in front)
yeah, i hear ya.
actually, i put the hood on in less then 10 min. so that was fine.
i tried raising & lowerin the rub mounts and it really did'nt help. it did stop the rattling but not the gap.
i might have to shave the latch (where it locks the hood hook or where the hook rests in the latch) or get some hood pins (i found some chrome ,silver & black CF hood pin/locks)
theres gotta be some other way :(
TJandBOXCARWILLIE 12-18-2004, 08:58 AM It's alright.
bBted 12-18-2004, 11:46 AM very nice
Munch 12-18-2004, 01:53 PM I would just use hood pins and get rid of the latch all together. It's much safer that way.
jermdoc 12-18-2004, 02:39 PM Looks cool, You shoule Hit it with a hammer untill it fits though!
Hydrothetek 12-19-2004, 05:52 AM well i tried lowering the latch on the car by lengthening the mount holes and changing the bolts that hold it to the car but i couldnt get it to go down enough. my bodyman said the best thing to do is cut the small horizontal bar on the hood latch and weld it back a little higher so the hood would close all the way down. but the heat from welding could screw up the underside of the hood (reason why i havent done it yet)
ThunderGod 12-19-2004, 07:43 AM i was thinking of doing the same, too bad that did'nt work.
ok, this maybe another option. i was thinking of modding the center brace that holds the latch, rub mounts,etc...
its too late for me to work on this evening, so i'll check under the hood tommorow, and come up with a solution. (hope)
i'll keep you guys posted.
firesquare 12-19-2004, 02:15 PM oooooh such beautiful CF everywhere.
who makes the lips.
by the way love the hood VIS right?
ThunderGod 12-20-2004, 05:50 AM oooooh such beautiful CF everywhere. who makes the lips. by the way love the hood VIS right?
lips are from HC Racing.
cf hood from VIS.
ThunderGod 12-20-2004, 06:25 AM well i tried lowering the latch on the car by lengthening the mount holes and changing the bolts that hold it to the car but i couldnt get it to go down enough. my bodyman said the best thing to do is cut the small horizontal bar on the hood latch and weld it back a little higher so the hood would close all the way down. but the heat from welding could screw up the underside of the hood (reason why i havent done it yet)
i was considering doing the same thing. but after checking the latch & where its mounted, there's not enough metal to work with to lower the whole latch.
i ended up using a dremel with carbide tip to cut/grind the bottom seat of the latch and the hook sits further down allowing the hood to sit flush. but in doing so, you will need to change one of the spring (the larger spring) in the latch mechansim to a loose/less tension spring.
Hydrothetek 12-20-2004, 08:54 AM word. good lookin out. i just might have to do that
stupidriver 12-20-2004, 03:21 PM Looks nice... I like the hood scoop.

superjeer 12-22-2004, 01:28 PM looks nice all fitted in there.

yeah, i hear ya. but this way, i can give my "sponsor" (actually my wife :D ) an excuss & convince her that i need a new bumper (NKB Power) because i hit a rock

firesquare 12-24-2004, 03:56 AM what did you use for the mo' airport?

Scott17 12-24-2004, 07:11 PM This is a sweet looking car and the mo-airport is as good of an original mod as any I have seen. Very inventive! I like!
EVILDAVE 12-25-2004, 04:30 AM Does this hood come in silver C/F???
J/K  Steve!
ThunderGod 12-25-2004, 05:24 AM Does this hood come in silver C/F??? J/K  Steve!
they hav'em in silva cf rear spoila, i don't know bout da hood.
Maicca 01-04-2005, 01:51 PM I like the scoop, but I am not feeling that lip. Paint it to match your car and it will be hot.
I think it would look MUCH better if the manufacturer had moved it over to the driver's side, like many of the JDM cars do, since that's where the airbox is...
