Default Transmission strength

After reading about Takumi's ordeal, I started to wonder about the strength of the Toyota transmission.

However, Takumi's problem was with the torque converter, right? I haev the manual tranny which has no torque converter..so, I hope I won't run into any problems like he did.

Every once in a while a person or two is going to have a problem with their tranny... it's normal. If this were a GM car then I would start to worry. I used to be an avid W-Body guy (Grand Prix, Buick Regal, Monte Carlo, Impala). Those cars have trannys made out of glass... especially in the supercharged vehicles. I had a 98 Buick Regal GS and I got rid of it when I blew the tranny for the 2nd time in a year. Every day when I log onto www.clubgp.com there is someone talking about blowing their tranny.

I wouldn't worry about the xA/xB tranny. If every day a new person has a problem, then you can worry.

Man, driving my punk ___ 250lb brother can do that to your tranny . Enough though my torque converter/tranny is messed up... I've driven it for the last week without any major problems. So, I still think toyota's trannies/ Toyota are still reiable. Just bad things tend to come to me lately... first gf break up, failing school..now car. enough rant... ill go back to my thread.

It's an automatic?
Do you drive it hard? Shift out of D into 3 or 2 and back while rolling down the road? Stuff like that?
