Default super charge or turbo

i was wondering wich method would be better turbo or s/c? mainly want something that will go and potential to upgrade in the future, and be reliable for a everyday driver. I really like the turbo but in the end I dont really want to change any internals or break a rod. s/c is half or less the price but would i be wasting my money by being not really fast enough and getting used to the upgrade and regretting not just paying extra for the turbo? you guys imput matters thx

supercharger really has no potential to upgrade... besideds changing out the pulley but everyone that i have seen tried has sheared that _____... ending up with a broken s/c i myself will be going turbo... : ) already have some of the engine build parts just making a nice stockpile for when my warranty is up and throw it all in : )

If you go with the Greddy, it's a 2 belt system. Upgrade the drive pully from the alternator, NOT the s/c pulley. The turbo is easier to upgrade, nut sure about cheaper. A new pulley is $125. The othewr issue with the s/c is there is no way to cool it besides methanol. If you up the s/c pulley, the air coming out of it will be hotter, making detonation a greater risk and decreasing HP to some degree.

I bought a spare engine for $250 and will be building it up, but then again I'm shooting for a 12 psi twincharge setup. I'll be running methanol and an intercooler between the turbo and s/c.

Go with the Greddy turbo kit for a basic but put a BOV on it. If you want to upgrade, you can get an FMIC and a boost controller. You can find a Greddy kit for around $2300 if you look around, and they come with a pre-tapped oil pan.

Here's my build thread:

turbo will ultimately give you more power, but s/c will give you better reliability and much easier installation. I went turbo, dam worth it!!

they will both decrease MPG because they are both sucking in more air to add more fuel to. so mpg will go down and you will need to use 91 octane.

that's hear-say. supercharger is way less realiable i had one and trashed it. As long as you don't purchase a turbo kit produced in someones garage the turbo is the way to go. I suggest Greddy or HKS

I plan on turbo charging my xA. Like one of the other POSTERS stated, I'm gonna start getting a stockpile of equiptment ready so when my warranty goes, it'll be ready to get turbocharged. I can't wait, I love the feeling of the turbo building up all the power when you push the accellerator down, and feel yourself getting buried into your seat!!!
