07tctul 09-14-2008, 07:47 PM So i was almost set on getting a dezod/custom kit for my 07 tc. But really got to thinking about and i really dont think it is what i want. Because to put out the numbers i want(350-400whp) is a lot of money and in the tc all it would do is spin. So after my dad having a 1993 na supra i decided to follow his path:). But since he sold his a couple years back i have to buy 1 first lol. But i dont want to pay 50,000 for a 6 speed TT. So i decided to either buy an na manual and convert it to a turbo, or buy an automatic and swap a 6 speed tranny in. But the trannt swap is approx 6,000 :nails: . But TT autos are a lot more common than 6 speeds and they also dont have the price tag. And dont say stick with auto cause i cant stand it. So what do you guys think?
my coworker bought his for $36K TT 6spd and he went to NY to pick it up too and got lost on his way home heh...
couper2 09-16-2008, 01:52 PM I'd say get the na manual and throw a turbo in it. Gut response would be that a tranny swap no matter how well done wouldn't work as well and be as trouble free as a pre-existing manual. 2 cents
Either way, love the idea. Suprai are f'n cool cars. *thumbs up*
07tctul 09-17-2008, 10:26 PM wow $36k is not bad at all. i would love to find one like that. its just the more money i save the better ;). i looked more into the turbo kit and it is appox. $3k from peak boost. Thats is also not a direct fit either. Estimated whp is supposed to be 400. which would be a great base. any other input?
bennyboopy 09-18-2008, 05:14 PM A lot of the lexus guys do 2jzgte swaps. A nice car could be had for 5-10k. Then another 5k for motor and tranny.
RusWolf 09-19-2008, 04:53 AM here you go bud... less the 50K and great miles for the year...

pinoyFMtC 10-06-2008, 11:21 PM I would get an N/A supra and turbo the 2JZ-GE, or do a JDM 2JZ-GTE swap. My friend and I did a 1JZ-GTE swap on a '95 Lexus SC300 (not much different from a supra 2JZ-GTE swap) with no prior experience, its not too bad.
Either way I think the N/A supra comes with a W58 5-Speed. You need to upgrade to either an R154 5-speed or a V160 6-Speed (pricey though), once you start going for more power. The transmission portion is the hardest part.
My friend just bought a '97 Supra N/A, and plans to do a JDM Supra 2JZ-GE swap, and an R154. It's an amazing car, the Supra is one of the greatest cars of all time imo...
highvoltage1 10-07-2008, 02:37 AM Dang man. I want to go one of these routes too. But i would like to find a manual and then spend the cash on a 6spd swap.
bennyboopy 10-07-2008, 05:15 AM lol...go buy an old ugly camaro like in my avatar for 2k...then for another 2.5k buy an ls1 with 6speed....then enjoy a car that runs 12s that you can beat the crap out of. Then you would still have a decent DD
07tctul 10-14-2008, 05:01 PM or i can buy something that is worth my time lol
InfiniteVisi0n 10-14-2008, 05:12 PM lol when supras came out they were like 20 thousand..now the price market up is ridiculous
InfiniteVisi0n 10-14-2008, 05:12 PM lol when supras came out they were like 20 thousand..now the price market up is ridiculous
CDogbert 10-14-2008, 05:18 PM Why not find a N/A auto, since I imagine the engine bay wouldn't stay stock anyway, and swapping trannies isn't out of your realm?
pinoyFMtC 10-14-2008, 06:54 PM lol when supras came out they were like 20 thousand..now the price market up is ridiculous
I thought the Supra Turbo, when new was around 40k-45k...
CarbonXe 10-14-2008, 07:00 PM lol when supras came out they were like 20 thousand..now the price market up is ridiculous

They were. The 1994 N/A started at $36,000, the TT was $44,000.
InfiniteVisi0n 10-14-2008, 07:51 PM hmm dont recall maybe i should do more research but i remember having a conversation about the supra being 20 something
CarbonXe 10-14-2008, 08:07 PM The mid-late 80's Supra was $20-25,000.
Take into consideration that an '88 Honda Accord had an MSRP of $11,000.
yellowxhoodie 10-16-2008, 08:19 PM throw 1 big turbo in there instead of 2 smaller ones. youll see larger numbers.
enjetek 10-24-2008, 11:44 PM there is no way a na mkiv supra was 20k initially...
highvoltage1 10-25-2008, 12:17 AM You obviously didnt read. It says mid-late 80's. That would be the 3rd gen not the MKIV.

i was actually responding to InfiniteVisi0ns' post smart guy. read pinoyFMtCs' post also in response to his statement. maybe you 'obviously didnt read'. try again :)

like this right? as i was saying, i was responding to InfiniteVisi0n not you. thank you :)
CarbonXe 10-25-2008, 02:10 AM No, you STILL didn't continue to read.
The mid-late 80's Supra was $20-25,000.
I already responded to him with the correct answer.

i do hope you know that until your post, everyone was talking aout mkiv's right? he then questioned the cost of them so you would think (if you could read properly) he was asking about them. sorry you fail again.
enjetek 10-25-2008, 02:14 AM and if that is your logic too, based on what you said, i was also then stating up to his post, that there is no way a mkiv was sold for 20k. agreed? and wow, heres the kicker. here is what he said: 'lol when supras came out they were like 20 thousand..now the price market up is ridiculous'. guess what? even if he were talking about the 80's supras do they have a 'price market up'? nope. so then he must be talking about a mkiv because guess what, they DO have a crazy 'price market up'!!! ding ding ding ding.... reading comprehension > you.
highvoltage1 10-25-2008, 02:23 AM Well sorry that you were like 2 weeks late on your post. So calm down there buddy dont get your panties in a wad. The question was answered so i dont think it needed a further response 2 weeks late. So maybe read the full post next time. Oh and now "que your smart butt comment cause you are ____ed at my response" Blah Blah Blah. Get over it.
enjetek 10-25-2008, 02:26 AM read my last post lol.
CarbonXe 10-25-2008, 02:46 AM InfiniteVision first said - 'lol when supras came out they were like 20 thousand..now the price market up is ridiculous'
Nothing in that statement about mkvi.
Pinoy said - "I thought the Supra Turbo, when new was around 40k-45k..."
That's the MKvi
I confirmed Pinoy's statement by saying - "They were. The 1994 N/A started at $36,000, the TT was $44,000."
Infinite then said - hmm dont recall maybe i should do more research but i remember having a conversation about the supra being 20 something
Obvious what he is saying.
I then told him that the mid-late 80's Supra was the model that cost low 20's.
Then you come in and say - "there is no way a na mkiv supra was 20k initially..."
Which means, you stopped reading when InfiniteVision FIRST said 20,000.
enjetek 10-25-2008, 03:48 AM edit - nvm i had a post but i dont want to argue since its not gonna get anywhere. now we can be friends :)
chicotunner07 10-25-2008, 04:02 AM just do like i did!
find a nice used is300 and hope one day you will have the cash to do a 2jz TT 6spd swap! LOL
seriously though
have you considered looking for a manual is300?
you can find them for 10-15k with low miles, then all u need is the swap and VOILA
4dr supra baby!!!
07tctul 10-25-2008, 05:10 AM i havent really though about it, but really if i get a supra i want to show it off. Im not really a "sleeper" fan. Besides i think that the supra is the best lookin car ever made.
InfiniteVisi0n 10-25-2008, 03:52 PM ^^wrong Nissan Silvia then Nissan GTR any version r32 r33 r34 r35 :) those are way better looking then that whale of a Supra your talking bout.
yellowxhoodie 10-25-2008, 03:56 PM everyone read this and stfu. lol
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Supra
yellowxhoodie 10-25-2008, 03:59 PM wow.
SL even filters out s.t.f.u now and changes it to quiet. hahaha
InfiniteVisi0n 10-25-2008, 04:06 PM everyone ustfu wikipedia is not even creditable..lol but whatever Supras style derived from a Celica..like I said Nissan all the way.
highvoltage1 10-25-2008, 04:59 PM Supra is the best looking hands down. The Silvia S15 is the second best. Then the R34. And that wikipedia article is pretty spot on.
yellowxhoodie 10-25-2008, 05:01 PM everyone ustfu wikipedia is not even creditable..lol but whatever Supras style derived from a Celica..like I said Nissan all the way.
ive wanted a supra for the last 12 years, i know pretty much everything about them, and that wiki article is a great read.
enjetek 10-25-2008, 05:22 PM Supra is the best looking hands down. The Silvia S15 is the second best. Then the R34. And that wikipedia article is pretty spot on.
noooooooooooooo lol u really like the s15 styling over the r34? are we talking about stock, mild, or all out crazy body kits?
highvoltage1 10-25-2008, 06:22 PM Stock. There is just somethign about it. The R34 is a better car in performance and handling but i love the look of the S15. The S14 Koouki is close 4th behind the R34.
pinoyFMtC 10-26-2008, 02:52 AM Looks wise, I'd rank it Supra, R34, S15. All are beautiful cars...
just do like i did!
find a nice used is300 and hope one day you will have the cash to do a 2jz TT 6spd swap! LOL
seriously though

4dr supra baby!!!
That's kind of what I want to do, the "4dr supra". Except I want to swap it into a Lexus GS300. I want to swap in the Toyota Aristo 2JZ-GTE and convert it to manual.
sandiegan 11-20-2008, 12:54 AM MKIV Supra (http://www.eridz.com/search/vehiclesearch.php?make=Toyota&model=Supra&vehicles=y) resales are retarded. I wish I had bought one brand new and put it in a garage :(
yellowxhoodie 11-20-2008, 01:04 AM wow.
way to bump an awful thread with an awful post.
highvoltage1 11-20-2008, 01:11 AM x2
InfiniteVisi0n 11-22-2008, 03:52 PM I like it lol I just read over everything and I just noticed the argument about the whole 20 thousand thing..hmm funny
