I have a kart trailer that I'd like to pull. Probably weighs under 400 lbs including my go-kart. Anyone know, and if so, anyone have any recommendations where to buy? Perhaps the dealer will know?

the xB isnt recomended for towing according to the manual. Toyota may void your powertrain warranty

IMHO i think you should tow with something else. trade it in for a RAV 4 or something

blah blah blah, its been gone over a million times. its not "recommended" so idiots that don't know how to tow won't go out and hook up a 2000 pound trailer and break everything. and so what if it did break everything, you just unbolt the hitch, and take it to the dealer. :?

i see no reason why an xB couldn't tow something light like a small jon boat, a Jet Ski or a gocart or riding mower. But don't try to tow campers, Bassboats,Classic Mini Coopers ( though that would look cool) etc.

A place up the road has a camper that's got orange outlines and stripes on it and is a classic tear drop style. It would look hot hooked up to a lava. def too heavey though ;-)

wow, im all over that hitch idea...

i think that would be a great addition to the semi-suv capability of an xB.

...especially to that roof rack i just added.

For what it's worth, I just added a blue ox base plate to the front along with removeable tow points so's I can flat tow it behind the motorhome. Had to cut out part of the lower grill but witout the tow points its not really noticeable to the un-Scionized.

Yes this is the one. I think for a small load you'd be OK, but be careful the
echo engine in the xB can't pull too much.

I built a hitch for my xB that I use for my mountain bike rack.
And... as I said in another thread...
The Scion xA and xB are built from the exact same drive train as the Toyota Echo.
The Toyota Echo is rated at towing 700 kg ( 1543.5 lbs ) or the equivalent
of a motorcycle trailer, jet ski, or very small pop-up camper.

The only reason why they don't advertise the towing capacity here in the US
is because Americans have a very bad habit of overdoing everything and suing
everybody when they don’t get their way. The last thing they need is some moron
to overload his xB by trying to pull a 28’ boat and burning up his car, then suing
Toyota (and winning) because he found some legal loophole.

People in the UK have been driving and towing stuff
with small cars for many years.

So... yes, you can tow with a Scion.

I've put in a good 5,000 to 7,000 miles of towing with my xB. I pull my KX250 and my daughters 50cc four wheeler. Total weight of between 500-700 pounds. The xB handles it great. You can feel it obviously, but I keep up 70mph on the interstate easily. I built my hitch, it's an easy build/install.

I'd be on that in a heart beat if I could just get sheets of 4x8 plywood in there :)

These are sweet to...

Lightweight Pop-up campers that can be towed by a motorcycle or small car.

Or do a search for "tear drop trailers" on Google for tons of pages with plans.
I plan on building one this summer.
