fadetoblack66 09-16-2008, 03:23 AM so yea, I installed the spectre cold intake from autozone and i was just planning to get alittle piece of pipe so i can replace the stock air filter but i ended up getting a longer pipe and make it a cold air intake. costs me less than $80 and im so pleased with the result. here's the video.

XLR8R 04-08-2009, 12:45 AM how did u get the air sensor to mount up? i bought one today and got the little piece to mount the air sensor but it faces the sensor the wrong way. any advice?
fadetoblack66 04-08-2009, 08:36 AM how did u get the air sensor to mount up? i bought one today and got the little piece to mount the air sensor but it faces the sensor the wrong way. any advice?just use the part where the MAF sensor goes to, and connect the intake. its a bit hard to put the tube on to the part that where the MAF goes to though. but it will fit. and make sure that you put it tight.
Bender_xD 04-08-2009, 09:47 PM I think i get it, you never actually touched or moved the sensor at all, u just attached the tube where some people are putting the filter directly. I thought i heard that doing this didnt work? I suppose its the moving of the air sensor ONTO these homemade short rams that gets messed.
ya know a pic IS worth a thousand words. and no the video isnt clear enough.
XLR8R 04-08-2009, 09:52 PM yeah, i figured it out. thanks. right now its just short ram. i gotta get one or two more pieces to make it cold air. how many pieces and which ones where they if u dont minde me askin?

JDMJim 04-10-2009, 02:41 AM better to put up a vid of the car in motion. then everyone will want to do this after hearing what it sounds like. finally a toyota engine that has some balls and potential

sorry for my f**ked up HID wires and foglights:P

my old setup was like three pieces, the long red pipe on the pic, the little curb pipe on the bottom and the filter. and not including the rubber thingy, MAF sensor and those clip...but now the filter is connected directly to the long pipe.. if i were you, i would keep that setup. cold air intake sounds cool and good for your engine but youll feel the late throttle response and greater chance your intake suck up water during rainy days, while short ram gives a little more push for this little beast. i can convert it to short ram and cold air so i can tell which one is better.

yep, ill post some vid when i get a chance. hoping ghetto cops is not around so i can make a good vid
JDMJim 04-10-2009, 02:31 PM i love how it whistles. short ram fo rthe win on the xD. I wouldn't do it any other way. I don't fully believe in CAI's really. I would rather have the quicker response
XLR8R 04-12-2009, 06:55 AM i think ill just use my left over pieces i have then to just move it a lil further from the engin then and add the air flow tube they make to pull a lil cold air frome out of the engin bay area. thanks.
