Default Few Questions about AVH-P4000DVD

So after about a month wait i finally got my P4000dvd for only $315 thank you employee accommodations !

But anyway had a little trouble with it at first the tray for the cd/dvd was bent a little and could not accept a disc. but I used something to bend it back up and it works like charm now. Also for some reason the back up camera kept turning on automatically even though i have no camera and the remote lead for the back up light is not connected to jack. But after doing a hard reset on the unit its no longer doing this.

1. For those who own the unit can you play movies from a hard drive at all ?

2. Also for some reason there is background noise playing while i listen to music or watch a movie, it sounds exactly like bad radio reception. Is it possible that a bad connection is making this sound ? or a bad unit ?... I do have kicker 6.5s in the doors but they did not make this noise with the stock HU.

3. Is there anyway to categorize the music or maybe make a play list ? plugged in an external hard drive with like 10 gigs of music but navigating by artist is a pain in the ___ ..

Probably going to rip it out tonight and double check everything. hopefully its not the head unit and its something obvious like a bad ground or something.

Well, I can't give any advice but hopefully someone else on the forums with the P4000 can. I just bought mine on ebay for <$350 shipped, also got the ipod cable. On crutchfield they offer an in-dash receiver kit, will I need this to fill excess space on the sides?

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...px?i=120958202

They also offers a receiver wire harness, will I also need this?

Let me know. Thanks..

Yep you need both if you want to do it right !

you will need to cut one of those circle things off the dash kit to make it fit .

Hey Freeze, thanks for the response! I ran into a couple problems after a friend who works in the car audio install section at best buy installed it. My ipods won't work! My ipod 4G color 20gb and ipod nano 2G 4gb..

I had this cable: http://tinyurl.com/3qbjge

But Pioneer customer service leads me to believe the only way my older ipod 4G will work is if I have this one: http://tinyurl.com/48us8b

Any help or suggestions are welcome!!

Thanks guys

To the OP, your noise issue could be caused by a ground. Make sure all wires that are supposed to be grounded are, and to a secure spot to the chassis. There is a bolt to the driver side of the mounting location that you can use.

I can't help you for the other questions since I don't have one of these units. Thought about it, but decided on something else, good luck.

When I installed my Pioneer unit (FH8000BT) the antenna plug was exactly the same as the stock unit, no conversio needed.
