Default my sound system

i just bought a sound system last night. i got both rockford fosgate amp and subwoofers. just wondering if these two will work good and sound good or not. any feedback will help.
amp = rockford fosgate p3002 model. 150 watts x 2 with 2 ohms load per channel.
subwoofer = rockford fosgate mx2 1000 watts.
i really like the subwoofer just dont know if the amp could take it. do i have to change my amp if ever?

mx2? or hx2? can you tell me the exact model number on the back of the sub, or at least the coil measurement? dual 2 ohm, dual 4 ohm... etc

there are 2 different hx2's, one is a punch, which takes 500 rms, and one is power which takes 1000 rms... although it would work... the 300 probably wouldn't be enough... it would shut off close to 20 minutes into play less if cranked... (i drive long distances)

it should say dual 4 ohm or dual 2 ohm on the back of the magnet.... or you can meter it to find the impedance of the coil...

those subs are no joke.. with proper power and enclosure they quake... defintely get a more powerful amp, but to match the power right you need to know what the resistance of the subs are... use the 300 for your front speakers... or something

i was hoping you didn't have that one particular sub... to get the most out of that sub you would have to run an amp that makes max power at 4 ohms... (no newer rockford amp) or a 1 ohm load... amps that can run a true one ohm load get pretty expensive... i would reccomend a rockford p6001 600+ watts at a 1 ohm load... or an ubber expensive rockford power series T10001bd ...

1 ohm capable amps are very expensive, and very hard on a cars charging system...

or you can try finding an older rockford 551s or 851s they should power it perfectly 551s plays for a good 45 minutes without giving up while the 851s would play until i got a headache... you can also power it with any amp that will push 500+ watts at a 4 ohm load...

that is all relative to what type of music you play, for how long, and how loud...

if you listen to it moderately, and use the sub for just fill in bass... it could go on for hours... but most people like to crank the bass up which makes the amp heat up quickler and go into protect... the time played also reflects what type of radio, and how clean and strong the outputs are that you are sending the amp... cranked i think it will run at least a constant half an hour... < i drive on highways at 65 - 80 mph and it getes noisy so i crank it just enough to not hear the wind/road noise...

if you are driving in the city where you don't need much volume you can have it a lot lower and it will last a lot longer...

i have installed the whole system already. but the sub is a little crappy full blast, and it sounds good on a particular level. im guessing its just cuz the amp that i have isnt supplying enough power to the sub thats why its making crappy sound full blast

V knows his ____. Its almost funny to watch him work, like a mad scientist. His shop is easy to find to, right off Rt. 42 in Deptford.

which stuff did you go with? try turning down the gains a little on the amp... you might be sending distortion to it... or turn the bass/ sub control down from the radio...

i went with the one that i got. turning down the bass takes the distortion out and its just fine. im goin with that for now until i get enough money again to get a better one.
