Default What should i do ?

Ok i have Tein S Tech Lowering Springs installed on the car right now . My stock shocks are going out . Is it better for me to buy more shocks and keep the S Techs or should i buy more shocks and go with H Techs ? What would the price difference be between factory shocks and performance shocks and would the performance shocks go bad also ? Would i still have as good of a ride as i did with factory shocks ?

My stock shocks went bad after about 10k miles ! At this point im thinking about buying more factory shocks and raising the car a little bit to Tein H Techs instead of S Techs!

keep the S techs and buy aftermarket shocks made to go with them. This is prolly both the cheapest route and you will have a better suspension. Dealer parts are usually way exspensive for what you get and aftermarket is generally relatively cheap.

Ive found a good place to order them but im still unsure on what to do .... I have 3 choices:

1. Buy Stock shocks and raise the car to H Techs instead of S Techs!
$640 Overall cost

2. Buy Tokico shocks and keep the S Techs and risk bad ride quality!
$460 Overall cost

3. Buy TRD Shocks and Springs set!
$650 Overall Cost

this is what i dont understand. everyone is lowering there car with just springs. why not do springs and shocks at once and only pay labor once ? are the stock shocks really lasting that long? 10k doesnt seem that long to me. im thinking about going with s techs and maybe the tokico shocks. i have found springs for 150 and the shocks for 350 so that really isnt that much. what do you guys think is the better way to go. shocks and springs together and only pay labor once and buy springs and wait for the shocks to blow and pay labor twice?

Btw koni shocks are trash... ive never heard anything good about them.

eh i had Hotchkis springs with stock struts and the ride wasnt bad but it wasnt good, performance was lacking, ride comfort was lacking, and well the drop was lacking. so i picked up a set of H&R coilovers for around 800 (cheapest i can find them now is allsprings.com for 945) and Comfort, performance, and styling all improved 10x over. then i wanted a little more and went with a set of HKS Hypermax coilovers with 30way adjustable dampening and the difference between the H&Rs was night and day.

from what you are describing is you want a suspension that was designed to work with eachother to give the best output possible.

now before everyone jumps in and says Coil overs make the ride rough blah blah blah or they arent worth it for daily driver. either A. cant afford them, B. has never had a set or C. is just plain stupid, because i daily drive my car (06 with 93k+ miles on it and i wouldnt go back to stock shocks with aftermarket springs EVER again, unless i was selling the car.

the drop is perfect and the ride comfort is close to stock, my girlfriend even likes it sometimes, and thats nothin to shake a stick at haha. anyways my recomendation would be to look into a nice set of AFFORDABLE for you coil overs.

H&R is a fantastic set, set to a mediocre drop the ride comfort will be phenominal. thats with NO adjustable dampening.

or you can spend a little extra for adjustable dampening and set it to the setting you desire.

just something to think about.

IMO spring/shock combos are a waste of time and money. you only get ONE drop and they arent 100% meant for eachother (unless its something like H&Rs Cup kits which are pretty much the same as adjustable coil overs but well with out the adjustment.

so before you just jump into Tein S-Tech this or H-Tech that. check out your other options before droppin some money on a new suspension that you might not be satisfied about later on.

you can find a lot of nice suspension units out there for the tC with a reasonable SUB $1000 price tag.

i agree coilovers are worth it. i have a set on my a4. i love them, how they can be adjusted and everything, yes money is the issue on my part. and yes maybe i should look into coilovers for the tc a bit more. im sure the extra 300 is gunna be worth it in the end.

i wish people would just read and get out or read and answer the question at hand... he didnt to feel stupid for asking a legit question, he asked what he should do about his current situation, and no not all of us can afford coil overs which are nice, but if they want springs then so be it... i say pick up a new set of after market shocks and call it good... body roll and all that isnt bad enough to be crying about on a daily driver so i dont know why everyone has to tell him to set his car up for street race mode... haha

I have eibachsportlines on my tc...much similar drop and had the shocks go out... I went with TRD shock and struts and love it... just though I'd give you some feedback with some options.
