Default Which double din touchscreen should I buy?

hey everyone, i'm looking around for a double din touchscreen and was wondering what to consider.

i would like the following:

- i want to be able to use the stock head unit cover to hide the touchscreen whenever i leave the car
- iPod connectivity
- DVD playback (including DivX playback would be a BIG plus)
- full screen (meaning minimal buttons or dials that allow for a maximum screen)
- navigation

the only one that i've looked into and found appealing was the Kenwood 7120. recommended by my brother since he has a Kenwood 7100.

any suggestions would be great!

I would recommend an AVIC-Z series if you want the full screen

budget first please

Ive owened almsot all the "popular" indash navs

D1,D2,D3
avn 5500,5510,6620
Kenwood dnx8120
even a Jensen to see how it really preformed
and about 4-5 others I cant remember...so dont worry about those

over all id have to take the Kenwood dnx8120, this thing is amazing.
I wrote a review (search)

It is a bit pricey but well worth the money if you are a tweaker

If you like good SQ but arent much of a tweaker id take any oof the AVn series Eclipse. To me they were all about the same. Kinda boring to look at.

The pioneer in SQ come last to me. I could never get any of the D series to sound the way I wanted. The nav was great though

currently leaning towards Kenwood, but they're expensive (for me anyway). i've been looking around for a good deal on the 7 series. 8120 seems a bit overkill for my needs, but it is f'in nice!!!

yeah, you need to give some kind of price range other than "kenwood is too expensive." I got my Pioneer P4000DVD for less than $350 shipped, but that lacks the nav (which my garmin takes care of anyway)

sorry about that. i'm looking to spend around $700 or so. MAYBE $800 at the most.

i haven't gone w/ Kenwood yet cause i've been looking around for something that can do everything i listed in my first post cheaper.

are Pioneer's any good? i'm only asking because my stock Pioneer head unit has problems reading CD's and MP3's now (after about 2 years). my brothers Alpine unit has been going on strong for 5 years. maybe i'm just unlucky...or the stock head unit just sucks.

how's the Pioneer AVIC Z1 in comparison to Kenwood? navigation? lcd screen?

I have the same one. Love it. on a side note, were you able to close your cover? Mine seems to be catching on something

I ended up with a kenwood ddx712 costing me around 570.00. It has a 7in TFT screen. The kenwwod dnx7120 is like a step up from it that comes with navi built in for around 850.00. I would recommned that. It's in your price range

I wouldn't get a kenwood just because the graphics sucks *****. The new avics are nice but are buggy. One good thing about the avics is that they are working out bugs. Soon there is going to an update kill most of the bugs on avics.

I found it on sonicelectronics.com It's down to 525.00 now
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...od+DDX712.html

It has what your looking for, but doesn't have navi built it- it's navi ready which requires you to by an "add-on unit" for navi
