does anyone know how to bypass the safety feature on in-dash moniters??

 

I'm not 100% sure, but I think you just hook the wire that hooks up to the parking brake up to a constants power

 

Why would you want to? there is a reason they put them there..

The bad part about your reply is...............Most people will go and try your info thinking that nothing will go wrong. If I were you, I wouldn't post things unless you were 100% sure when it comes to electrical stuff. This dude could have toasted his radio

 

are you sure about just grounding the emer. brake wire?? can u tell me exactly what to do?? or at least an idea......where should i ground it??

 

i work at an audio shop, i am a professional and i agree with munch, we have some idiots on here that will really tear up your car if you listen to them. you take the parking break ground or visual ground and ground it with the black wire which is your regular ground, that will take care of your problem. if you have anymore questions i will try to answer them. thanks munch for watching out.

 

on my alpine i had to hook up a on/off toggle switch and then tap into a wire that runs to the e-brake and then push the brake in, hold it and then turn the switch off an on. that would get the picture on and if i was to get pulled over i could turn the switch off and there would be no picture

Yeah on my Kenwood 7015 I just hooked the E-Brake ground to the regluar ground on the harness. Works fine.

and the bad part about your reply is that youre wrong as well.... Alpine screens arent wired that way as well other brands.

 

I just hooked up my friends ALPINE IVA-D300 on Saturday and that's the way I hooked it up. So until you can prove me wrong, I'm sticking with my experience

 

he was just giving his thoughts on it which is what a messageboard is all about. it should be the responsibility of the person or persons to check out what has been posted before following something when he said he wasn't sure or have a professional do it if they don't know what they are talking about. atleast he didn't say, you have to do this.

 

I've also heard that the new Pioneer AVIC-N2 cannot be defeated it uses the gyro and if it see's any vehicle motion it shuts off dvd playback and nav functions

 

true... the N2 can not, repeat, CAN NOT be defeated like the N1 was....
it detects motion wether or not the e-brake wire is grounded, and shuts off the video of the head unit....

 

that must suck. now i know to stay away from that

 

Werd, I'm thinking it's not going to be a big seller IMO. Cool feature for safety reasons but we all know most people hook them up so that passengers can watch going down the road.

 

i don't know about the new alpine, but the old ones did require a toggle switch. Ok if the new Pioneer N2 cuts the dvd playback and nav off when the vehicle is in motion, then what is the point of it having navigation?
