okay im getting my tC lowered next week. the problem is.. what springs should i use!?!? i like the trd spring's drop from the pictures i've seen., but it is really that noticable? and...are the tein coilovers too low, do they scratch alot?(coming out of parking lots, speed bumps, etc.) What would you guys prefer for springs? and... is it still under warranty if you do the installation of the springs or if you have another mexhanic do it? or does it have to be done by toyota? Does anyone know how much the dealer will charge for installation?
can someone plz clear all thsi up for me :? T
hanx!!
I myself may be going with the Tein H-Techs, the drop #s are fine at 1.75"

I put the Sprint springs on mine. It dropped it about 2". The only time that i ever have a problem is when i pull up to parking blocks. Speed bumps and other normal road hazards are no problem.

I'm trying to decide between the Tein H-Techs (1.75) and the H&R sport springs (1.5)...
could anyone be so kind as to post pics of either or both of these springs installed on the tC?

Im gonna go with the Tein H-Techs as well. Sounds like a nice drop length yet not overly doing it.

Anyone have the Eibachs? I think they're like 1.25 drop or something subtle like that.

do you guys know how much the dealer would charge to install? or should i install it somewhere else? is it still under warranty if installed somewhere else? oh... and one more question, when you put TRD parts to your car, does it raise the value of the car? like if you bought the supercharger, would the car be valued like at $2,500 more?

I have the TRD Shocks and springs (1.25" drop)on my car, love the drop, way way better than stock, never had a scraping problem at all - I've got the stock 17" rims so the drop looks great, any lower than 1.75" wouldn't look right on stock rims IMO.
Dealers rip people for installation of suspension parts, heck installation of any part... probably cost you $200-300 for dealer install... I'd have it installed by a good mechanic - whoever you know won't screw up your car and gives you the best price, it's an easy install - Scionlife member BrianxB installed my shocks, springs AND rear sway bar in less than 3 hours (and we were slacking off for about half that) for $180 and I could've done it myself if I knew how and had the air drill, spring compressors etc.
Your shocks(struts) aren't covered under warranty anyways since they're considered a wear and tear part unless they're defective for some reason, and the only difference between who installs them is the warranty on the springs, 1 year for self install, 3 years(i think) for professional dealer install - but they're springs, not much can happen to them.
on the options thing holding resale value - you might as well just write off any options and mods you put on the car as a loss if you sell it, because yes, you could get a little more, but you're probably not going to get more than 10% back what you paid for on any mods on your car when you resell it - especially with something like a supercharger - that would generally mean you put it in there for performance reasons, and if so, you drove it harder than someone who didn't (random assumption, but it's what I'd make if I bought a used supercharged car)
long post, but in closing, get a drop, and the height depends on your wheels, more is generally better with bigger wheels, get TRD or Tein H-tech springs, and remember, the shorter the spring, the quicker you'll have to replace your stock shocks when they fail because they're doing more of a beating on them. and when they do need replacement, you're going to need upgraded shocks to handle the drop much better.

I've had progress springs on my si for almost 2 years now and they have been great. I just check the site and they plan on the tC apps soon.
they are a very reputable company in my opinion and plan to upgrade with their rear swaybar as well. They are a specialty company on focused on suspension. Just mentioning a good company.

I'd actually really like to see pics of the H-techs.. just saw some with the H&R's paired with 19" rims and it looks really clean, I just can't imagine it would look that great with stock rims for the time being.
