Default Short ram intakes

Ok, so ive been searching around in the tC forums for awhile and i cant find anything about short ram intakes. Where i live it rains half the year, so im a little skeptical about a CAI. So i was just wondering if anyone has any knowledge about any Short Ram Intake for the tC. and if any one has heard about the- AFE Short Ram Intake

there are plenty of threads about this....... but SRI is good. alot easier to get to the filter when you need to clean it. just get the Injen CAI/SRI, half the year you can have a short ram, the other half a cold air intake.

i have a injen sri and it is awesome i was sceptic about doing cai too because my car is so low and i go through water like a 4x4... plus i think it sounds a little bit better. i know you do lose a lil bit of power but its worth not getting water in it

if i were you i would rather buy CAI. SRI will basically suck all the heat form the engine and that's not good unless u know that one day you will drive into sum pot of water that's like ft deep then get the SRI

Injen FTW....its a 2-in-1!! you cant never go wrong with Injen so i would say that would be your best choice!

I choose the short ram...you get a little more sound from it and if you keep it clean it looks nice when opening your hood.

My questions is will a regular cold air intake change the sounds from the engine during regular daily driving?

Just get a nice polished one from ebay. It does the same shiet for a lot cheaper price and with the $$$$ saved, go get urself a K&N cone filter for it. Works the same.

No you cant really hear it as much as the short ram. Its lightly noticeable

FYI it would have to rain a LOT to have water touch the intake filter on most (if not all) CAI's. The filter sits about 2mm below the headlight.

As long as you don't drive through lakes you'd be fine with a CAI. And if you searched you would have found this https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=89753 (its even a sticky).

it's true you pretty much have to have the whole filter submerged in water. amazingly people manage to do it though. if you're worried, just go short ram for the piece of mind and easier maintainability.

Theres also "hydro shields" to go over the filter and bypass valves to help prevent hydrolock if for some reason you wash your car with a lake

every time you do a search you get nothing but crap about nothing you want to know about. Ill stick to just asking a dam question. if its a issue just dont reply and move on.

Now I think the cold air and short ram question is a bit of a doubled edge sword, driving at high speeds the short ram will work just as good as a CAI, so its up to you but you will need to pull off that filter once a month and unless you like removing your bumper all the time go with the SRI.
